I've bought a couple of these packs over the years. They work great, but I also don't have a lot of scum in my hot tub. Easy to use and when dirty, just throw out and get a new one.

I purchased this so that whenever the family gets in the pool the oils and grease from sunscreen, hair, skin etc would get collected instead of floating around on the top of the water. This works relatively well for that purpose but also serves an additional purpose by attracting all the small bugs on the surface that don't find their way into the filter. A little more expensive than I'd like but beats the white balls that don't seem to bounce back when they're squeezed.
