Extremely bright white light not so much red light
Andrew✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 4, 2018
Pretty good headlamp. Its super bright white light but due to the clear plastic housing there is light bleed that shines right into the users eyes reducing its utility. However, this problem was easily remedied with some duct tape. The second issue is that the red light isn't focused and throws light out in a wide pattern that isn't all that bright or useful.
Casts glare downward into your eyes (fixable with tape). Otherwist, great!!!

Only 4 stars because there is glare down from the unit into your eyes, and I had to apply a strip of tape to somewhat correct it. Otherwise, great.

UPDATE: I LIKE this headlamp!!! The bright setting is really bright, and the red and dim are perfect for camp chores where bright is not needed. I can't see much effect or use, however, for the "beam width" adjustment, so I suggest they remove that and made the unit a bit cheaper. But wait - here's a version that seems to have everything except beam width adjustment for just $10.49 with a 20% off coupon! - https://amzn.to/2uLX8zq. I haven't tried that one, yet, though, although I have it in my shopping cart to buy.

Bottom line is I highly recommend this headlamp. The only question I have is durability, so we'll have to wait to see about that, but so far, so good. I wish it didn't have the downward glare issue that had to be fixed with tape, as I would love to give this 5 stars.

These Energizer headlamps don't get nearly enough attention. They are light, super bright, reasonably priced, and don't require special batteries. They have *two buttons*, which makes it much easier to use than the single button lamps you have to learn how to cycle thru endlessly. And they are physical buttons, not unreliable touch sensitive buttons that don't work with normal gloves. My only complaint is that the transparent plastic that encases the main center light sticks out a few millimeters, allowing a small amount of ambient light to travel thru the edge of the plastic and reflect off of the rim of my glasses. This results in a small amount of glare that is counterproductive to overall visibility, but it easily solved with a small band of dark nail polish on the underside of the main light. It is similar to the black band football players put under their eyes to block glare from the sun and it turns this 4.5 star product into a full 5 star product.
was great. They shipped the same day I ordered and ...
Me, that's who.✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 9, 2016
1st I'll start by saying that the seller, Mr. Medical, was great. They shipped the same day I ordered and I received the package in 3 business days. As for the headlamp, you really get what you pay for. It's decent for the price and the light itself is, fine, however the housing is pretty cheap, brittle plastic. This is a good light for around the house or perhaps for emergencies. However, I don't think I'd trust it for heavy outdoor/wilderness use.
One of the two stopped working after about an hours use. Had to pull the unit apart to repair it, functions now.

Worked as expected. As some others complained the light can be seen while you are wearing the band. It can be annoying but if you put some marker or fingernail polish to block the small area on the bottom it's better. Nice and bright.

Edit.

I keep one of these in my shop and one in my work truck. I went to use the one in my truck today and when I turned it on it was flickering. I rearranged the batteries and it didn't stop. Soon after it stopped working completely. I brought it home and put new batteries in it and it turned on once. Now it won't even turn on. So I bought two and after about an hour of use one of them stopped working. Not happy as I really needed the light because I was working inside cabinets.

Update:
Well, I was going to return it for exchange but of course I'd have to pay for the shipping which would be about $9.50 for a product that cost my $15. So I threw it in a corner. Last night I had to fix my wife's car FOB and decided I'd pull the light apart. To my surprise it had screws instead of a plastic weld or being snap together which never fares well when you try to take them apart.

So I removed the batteries and the 4 tiny philips screws. The unit came apart. There was a white circuit board with two switches and 5 LEDs. The battery terminals were dual function, transfer power and hold the circuit board in place. The B+ terminal was bent at an angle that wouldn't make contact with the contact on the circuit board. After a while I found that you can pull the contact completely out of the battery area. I did it for both the B+ and B- terminals and removed the circuit board. I re-bent the B+ terminal to 90 degrees and re-inserted it. Put the B- back too. Slipped in the batteries and pressed the button and the lights once again came on. Put the unit together and now it seems to function properly.
