I was going to use this at my office for the interior window by the door to our suite to give our client's more privacy when they visited our office (law firm). I tried to install it myself, but it creased very easily and threw it out. I ordered another roll and had a professional install it. He said it was very difficult to work with. It has a texture almost like upholstery and he could not remove all the bubbles. It looks fine from the outside, but on the inside you can see all the small bubbles and places where it creased when he was trying to remove the larger bubbles. He took a piece of it back to the sign shop just because it was so different than anything he had worked with. (each square is about 1" x 1")

So easy to apply. Each packet comes with blade and small ruler in the tubing the film is on wrapped in a cloth. I didn't realize this until I had applied two rolls already.

The rolls are not even so cut as close to the measurements as you can and then cut again after applied. I'm going to add layers above the ones I've alreay applied and leave space so we can still see outside.

Our living room is so much brighter now that we don't have to have the curtains closed. Too bright actually. This photo does not show how bright the light is. Not complaining though.

I have our bedroom left and then I'll do the rooms downstairs.

This took two rolls. Enough left over to use on top for more layers.

Sliding door is about 32 inches across. I went up to 56 inches in height.

Windows are 25 and 26 approx. I just cut the sheet across for these measurements applied. Didn't measure for height.

The 'DuoFire' brand of privacy film is awesome stuff. It is purpose-designed to diffuse--as opposed to opaque--light. The stuff is marketed as a privacy film, and it serves this function perfectly. However, for the creative types among us who like to work with translucent material, the DS001W film is exceptional.

DuoFire's DS001W is a translucent film; it diffuses light using a matte layer of fine speckle texture on one side of the film (the opposite side is applied to glass). The material is has no adhesive; you apply it to directly to clean glass misted with water. The film is easy to position, and reposition. The DS001W film is robust stuff and will not tear, scuff or stretch while being manipulated during application. The film's backing sheet offers no guidelines or alignment pattern.

Privacy Film:
Passively-illuminated objects greater than 8 inches on either side of the film/glass are completely obscured, though one can discern shapes of relatively bright objects. In my opinion, this makes the DS001W product especially effective as privacy film. Inside of 8 inches, most anything can be discerned, and every object placed against the film/glass is easily discerned, including text.

Light Diffuser:
For my particular application, I needed to find a comparatively inexpensive alternative to translucent acrylic that approximated as closely as possible While nothing matches the excellent light diffusing properties of that material, DuoFire's DS001W film comes acceptably close (to my eye) at a very good price. The "hot spot" from a light source disappears when separation is greater than 8 inches from the film/glass, or when the film is applied to both sides of the glass.

Electronic Cutting Machines
DuoFire's DS001W film is completely compatible with electronic cutting machines when the material is pre-cut to a size that is feed-compatible with the cutter. I was able to cut complex and orthogonal shapes from the DS001W film with no difficulty on both CriCut and Silhouette cutters. Some interesting diffusion and shadow effects are possible by applying different shapes or shapes of various sizes of the DS001W film to both sides of the glass.

I was dissappointed with this product. I cleaned window thoroughly and followed instructions, but there are lines and spots visible. I want to return, but probably cost more to ship back than the item. It was affordable, well packaged and opaque enough for privacy.

I just bought a house with glass front doors. I used this film to cover them and it is exactly what I wanted. It gives complete privacy, but still lets light through. It was easy to install. We used a credit card to smooth. We also trimmed the pieces after they were installed instead of before hand.
