These sell for a good price, so I've bought them several times over the past couple of years instead of the more expensive Frigidaire units. Honestly, though, it's really hard to tell whether these filters actually do very much of anything at all. For sure, my refrigerator does not have any persistent funky smells - but is that because this filter works so well, or because we keep our fridge reasonably clean so smells don't build up? No idea. For what it's worth, these filters are just accordion folded paper with an activated carbon coating.

Why didn't I read the reviews? Because a near 5-star rating with over 500 reviews PLUS Amazon's upsell indicating others purchased this item too gave me confidence in my add on. Lesson learned.

What was pictured on Amazon.com and the item that came are two different things. The filters I received are contained in a similar looking box with a similar perforation to expose the filter, but the filter inside appears to be a cheap knockoff. I've included pictures of what I received from the seller (flat filter) along with a screenshot of what was advertised on Amazon (clearly pleated, as the original filter for the refrigerator is). You can clearly see the difference.

If the picture that is used to sell this item were correct, I would give the item a higher rating. Instead, one-star for false advertising, period. It's dirty pool that the seller tries to pass off this difference in their item description: "This is a manufacturer substitution. Part may differ in appearance but is a functional equivalent to prior parts...." I call BS.

Oh, and this particular sale is a final sale; NO RETURNS PERMITTED. It doesn't pass my smell test, nor should it pass yours. Very disappointing but a big lesson learned.
