I am in love with Synology. I was running out of space on my Synology DS213+ and was looking for an expansion solution. But why? I bought this instead - my network recognizes it as a separate server and I now use one for professional stuff and one for home stuff. You cannot (under ANY circumstances) go wrong with Synology. And the new DiskStation software (basically the UI for their OS), it is ridiculously easy to set up a photo, video, web or mail server and get it out to the web. I love it. And you can't beat the price!

More plasticky than I expected, but its fine. Has all the features I need for it, plus some. I'll need to manually reconfigure it at some point, for I'll need a raid1 and a couple extra disks, but I'm presently using it for OS/X time machine. I plan to add a 1TB ssd for separate storage, but I think it will by default auto-add as part of their proprietary easy-to-use raid format, which many of these home/office-type units offer. I expect to end up with a raid1 pair of platters for backups (presently installed as their default raid) and another pair of SSD drives, as needed, for specific use, like home-server (Linux) storage, and the like. If I run across complications, I'll update accordingly.

This is an excellent, full-featured NAS. Highly recommended. Some of my favorite features are the disk encryption and power-on-off scheduling. I'm using the DS216J with two Seagate 2TB Ironwolf drives, and it has been dependable and fast. No complaints. You will have to download some updates to the O/S, but that is easy and intuitive.

One of my best tech purchases ever! This thing works like a charm, has amazing capabilities, and has proven very robust so far. An incredibly positive contrast to my old Buffalo Linkstation NAS. The Synology notifications work perfectly without being intrusive, updates go quick and easy,the reporting capabilities are very well done. It's actually a full-blown web server, though I'm not using it that way.

Most of all, having a RAID NAS is a great comfort. I'm using this as a media server for our house, a centralized shared folder, and using it as a destination for a few critical backups. I've had zero issues, and have been highly impressed with this device.

What can I say? Every single review of this product here at Amazon's was true. This is amazing, there is not a single cons on this. DS Video app is available for SAMSUNG TVs so I can get my movies and series with cover, sumary, rating, everything on my TV and it is SUPERFAST!!!. Just WOW. As a power users I can't believe how long it took me to buy one of these. I can't live without it now. GO FOR IT DAMN!!!
