This router worked right out of the box. I was up and running in 10 minutes. I love Open-WRT. There is so much documentation on the web -- way more than DD-WRT, Tomato, etc.

I wish I bought the one with the external antenna, which is why I give this only 4 stars. Still, this WiFi is VERY stable, and I was able to easily upgrade the software onboard. It can run off normal OpenWRT (it comes with a modified version from the OEM), and it's easy to upgrade it to vanilla. Everything works fine out of the box though - I just figured I'd install the OS clean to make sure I wasn't introducing any security hazards. It's completely usable with the OEM software, still has the package manager and the OpenWRT OS.

WOW! I purchased this because I needed a solution for internet security in hotels and public wifi hot-spots when I travel. This tiny, inexpensive device can connect into a hotel wifi or ethernet and provide secure wifi connection to multiple devices. It adds a layer of protection between the public wifi and your personal devices by creating a separate network (not perfect but it's better than nothing), but can also be configured as an OpenVPN client! This fit the bill perfectly for me. I have a VPN server at home. This allows me to create a secure connection between all my devices in the public wifi, and have an encrypted pipe back to my house. The devices browse the internet from my home ISP, cutting out any ability for attackers at the hotel/public hot-spot to sniff the data.

Very pleased with this product. Cannot find a firewall in the GUI, so I assume it doesn't have one, but everything else fits the bill perfectly.

I use this for the purpose of remotely tethering my camera.It's small size and functionality make it perfect for my camera. The OpenWRT software is also brilliant - and FREE! ... which is part of the reason this highly capable wifi router is so inexpensive.

Great little router! I was surprised how small it was... about as big a phone jack. Came with a microUSB cable but you will need to power it with the USB port on a computer or a wall adapter with USB output. I plugged it in, hooked the LAN port to my computer and the router gave it an IP which let me log in to it.

There are two separate interfaces on the Router... a basic setup that will be fine for most users and an Advanced interface (you have to log in to it from the Basic interface) which lets you configure pretty much everything. The router runs LuCi on top of OpenWRT. It also includes OpenVPN which is why I bought it. I am using it to connect a computer to NordVPN for streaming and the setup was extremely easy. After looking at the OpenVPN documentation I was a little worried that the setup would be difficult but the router's basic interface took care of that. I simply Dragged and Dropped the zip file from NordVPN onto the box in the router interface (under the OpenVPN setup tab)... it loaded all the server configurations (over 1000 of them) and it asked for my VPN user/passwd. After it edited the files (about 2 min) I clicked Enable and it worked fine. Very pleased. Eventually I will SSH into the box and play around but there are so many advanced features in the UI most people will never need to get that far under the hood. I also expect to try the wireless but that isn't really what I bought it for. I think it would make a great little unobtrusive access point.
