Nice form factor, reasonably sturdy, accurate,and quick. What kills it is the alarm feature. It works, but it defaults to ON and 176F every time you open the probe. So, if you are measuring anything over 176F and forget to manually disable the alarm each time you use it, it will beep at you. What a pain. It should remember the last temp you used or at the very least remember the last state the alarm was in. It's just a shame.

Really great tool to have but the lack of a guide for temps on it makes me not love it as much as I could. Why not have a sticker on the back with meat temp guidelines? And it would be nice if you could shut it off or it goes off automatically even if you don't put the probe back into its seat, because if you need to wash the probe after, you end up leaving it open (and on) until you do.

I own a restaurant, so I buy a lot of thermometers. I also buy a lot of batteries. This thermometer turns itself on when pull out the stem, and turns off when you fold it back down. Perfect. It is sturdy, of good weight, and seems to be accurate though I haven't tested it. I haven't had it long, so we'll see how long it works in the rough BBQ environment, but so far I really like it. If it holds up well, I'll buy more.
