Sweet sounding speakers
RCM•October 8, 2017
I wanted to extend my music out to my newly enclosed patio but wasn't too thrilled about running speaker wires through walls to do it. I decided that Bluetooth speakers were the way to go, and after going through all the Amazon reviews of available systems, I chose the Edifier R1700BT's. I'm glad I did! They look great and they sound wonderful, all at a very reasonable price point for their quality. Mid range, treble and bass are excellent. All of my digital music is on a 160 gb iPod Classic which doesn't have Bluetooth, so I am using the Toslink/SPDIF Bluetooth Receiver and Transmitter SK-BTI-029, also purchased from Amazon, to send my tunes to the speakers. Pairing was a snap. A nice extra is the remote that comes with the speakers, especially since mine are mounted near the ceiling where I can't easily get to the volume control. If I have one gripe, it's that Edifier doesn't offer a longer speaker inter-connect cord. A 24' cord would have suited my preferred mounting position a lot better, but I'm still happy with the purchase.

AWESOME! I bought these to replace a receiver and speakers. I am totally blown away at the quality of the sound, workmanship, and low price. These are true studio quality speakers at a bargain price They have bluetooth connectivity for the ultimate in convenience for connecting to Napster, Spotify, etc. They even include a nice little remote. Won't peel the paint off the walls, but a very decent output and absolute clarity (I believe that they boast a digital anti-distortion feature to ensure hi-fi output at high levels). Totally recommend these.
Terrific speakers, mediocre remote.

I had never heard of Edifier before purchasing the R1700BT. After reading several glowing reviews, I took a chance and am so glad I did. My wife and I have been enjoying them immensely, both as speakers for our Audio Technical turntable and as Bluetooth speakers for our iPhones. The sound quality is terrific and very unexpected at this size and price point. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the remote. Yes, it's functional "“ as long as you have line-of-sight to the main speaker "“ but the build quality is not on par with the speakers themselves. Other than that, they are a fantastic solution for our particular use case. Hopefully the quality is there and they will provide years of listening.
Wasn't sure what I'd get, but very happy.

The sound is much bigger than I expected. Each speaker is about the size of a six pack. I was a little worried that they would sound as small as they look. I was pleasantly surprised. They have a big sound that doesn't make sense to me when I look at them. The bass is great. We live in a small apartment and this set is perfect for filling our bedroom, and worked well in the living room too.
I've always felt like music is best listened to on headphones, to really hear every little bit of it. I listened to lots of songs last night on these and heard sounds that I have never heard in my headphones or in my car.
I'm not an audiophile, so take all this as coming from someone who hasn't owned any real speakers prior to this, but I'm very happy with these.

They passed the "Autechre test" pretty well. They do not however pass the "Kate Bush test".

TBH some of the best speakers I've owned. They passed the "Autechre test" pretty well. Extremely intricate music I can hear every shift and all frequency bands clearly. They do not however pass the "Kate Bush test". Her music is far too lush and orchestral to be represented properly on speakers of this quality. Autechre is same and so I was VERY surprised when their music came through. The sound IS a bit muddy in the lower mid frequencies but for 150$ they do precisely what I need them to do. Listen to music while working and JAM when lounging. They do get LOUD. Excellent product. Would buy again and recommend.
