Very Nice Doorbell

This is a very nice doorbell for the price - no wiring to worry about, just a straightforward plug-in for the receiver and hanging of the transmitter with the enclosed double-sided tape. I took one star off for some downsides: the enclosed instructions were not quite accurate and not well-organized regarding the steps to follow in the set-up, and one day after hanging the transmitter outside on the door, it fell off. The transmitter really needs to be made with an added part at the top with a hole in the center, or a hole in the middle of the back, so that it can be hung on a nail. I will either need to go shop for some better double-sided tape or figure out a different way to hang the transmitter on the door so it doesn't fall off. Also, by exactly following the instructions, the chosen melody would not play on the receiver. However, by eliminating part of the instructions, I finally got it to work right. Other than those things, it is a delightful doorbell for the price.

Edit: After I posted my review someone from the company contacted me and sent me a new one for free. It arrived and it works great. I guess the first one was just a fluke.
Item arrived while we were on vacation. When we returned I opened it and began to set it up and then realized that it was missing the battery which was supposed to be included. I then ordered a battery for it. When it came I put in the battery and read the directions for how to set it up. Nothing worked on the receiver. None of the buttons did anything. I read that it could be reset so I tried that too. I even tried different plugs in my house. I have no idea why but it doesn't work at all. I hate returning things because it is such a hassle, but I hate wasting money even more. So I went on Amazon to return it and I've missed the window by two days. I had high hopes for this since there are an abnormal amount of five star ratings. I don't know if I just got a defective one or if those reviews are really real.

Good product, but nearly all 36 tones are songs

The door bell works exactly as expected. It has 36 different tones as advertised. The main issue I have is that the tones are all types of songs, including many Christmas themed. It has some classical music themes as well as the eyes of Texas, the star spangled banner and others. It has a very limited selection of normal door bell type tones. If you are looking for the traditional "ding-dong", buzzer or a simple two or three tone door bell, then you will be disappointed.
I am changing the rating from three starts to four starts. I still think the door bell needs additional traditional tones. The reason for the upgrade is due to the seller. They have contacted us twice to see what they can do to help. It is very rare that a company reaches out to customers that aren't 100% satisfied. For this, I believe my rating should higher.

Overall, this seems like a good product, and I got it on a Lightning Deal, so it was inexpensive. Very little risk involved.
The areas which prevent this from being a 5-star item are:
1) I have a brick house, so the standard wood screws which were included for mounting won't work, and I'm not sure how long the 3M tape will stick to the bricks. I may have to go get some masonry screws. It's currently working fine, but we'll see. This may not wind up being an issue.
2) The receiver must be plugged in (no battery option), and it does not have a cord, the plug is on the back of the receiver. You will need to make sure you have an available plug where you want it to be located. While the sound is plenty loud enough to hear from just about anywhere in my house, the plug location somewhat affects the usability of the visual LED option. My son is Deaf, so the light was a feature I appreciated when purchasing. Having to find an available plug that is located where I can both HEAR the sound and SEE the flashing LED was a bit of a challenge. Also, the size of the plug itself makes it quite difficult to plug anything else into the outlet.
3) There are 36 options for chimes. This sounds like a fun feature, but pushing the button to step through 36 chimes to find the one you want takes quite a while. And most of them are a little bit ridiculous honestly. Ultimately, this is a personal preference issue, but I think 5 or 6 fairly normal chimes would be sufficient.
4) It is plastic and relatively cheap-looking (both the door transmitter and the receiver). I don't have concerns about its durability, just that it doesn't look "classy" or high-quality. If you have a nice house this isn't likely to be the doorbell you will install. If you are in a rental, or aren't overly concerned with your image, this will work just fine for you.
Overall, it seems like a very good product and I feel like it was worth what I paid for it. But I know there are higher quality and classier options out there.

I was very pleased to see this streamlined doorbell for my apartment on Amazon. It has a wonderful low price in comparison to the doorbell I bought a few years ago. That one ate up my batteries and after finally getting tired of buying yet again more batteries for my doorbell I looked at a better option. This doorbell uses no batteries, the sender part just pugs into an outlet in my apartment. It has many options for doorbell chimes and again NO BATTERIES needed to stock up on. There is a small coin size battery in the ringer itself but I always have a strip of those in reserve for other small devices I own. They are not a battery that drains easily so this is still a very well working, economical to use, doorbell . I already had a friend stop by, used it and noted that she liked my new doorbell ringer. She said my ringer is a much nicer looking one than my old one. That was a cool factor I was not looking for when I bought this but it was fun to hear.
