Purchased this to replace the black bezel on my '11 Silverado LT. The fit was perfect and better matches the rest of the chrome on my truck. The rear view camera works great with my Kenwood Excelon DDX594 stereo HU. There are no parking lines which is just what I wanted since the DDX594 has it's own set of guide lines. My only issue with this item is that it doesn't come with a chrome piece to cover the pull handle on the truck.

I bought this along with the back up mirror which came with the compass and temperature display. I installed it to my 2014 Silverado 2500HD CrewCab. I know it says it fits up to 2013 only but luckily I checked my tailgate handle and it was the right fit for it. The handle part was easy to install considering I had a key lock for my tailgate. The hole I drilled with a step bit at the bottom of the tailgate was about an inch. I did not realize that this set DOES NOT come with rubber grommets so I purchased a couple 3/4 inch grommets from Menards/Home Depot which fit nicely. Also you'll need to improvise a 24-30 inch fish stick to go from the drilled hole to the handle. I used 3 8 inch plastic tie wraps and taped them together. Worked like a charm! I also used my driver's side reverse light as power for the camera. With a 2500HD I was kind of worried that the cord wasn't going to be enough but I ended up with a bunch of slack left.
First one was DOA, it's replacement is working like a champ.

Now that the unit is working, I really like it. The first one I received the camera was DOA. I spent a few hours making sure I didn't install anything wrong but came to the conclusion it had to be the camera itself. So I bought a second unit (so I didn't have to rip out all the wiring I just installed),. installed the camera, and bingo, I have a back up camera. ! sent back the faulty camera and Amazon gave me my money back within a couple days. I'm happy now. I would still recommend this unit simply because of the price and the camera is decent quality.
Awesome!

This camera is awesome! It is much cheaper than the actual GM part and the quality is the same. I have this installed in my 2013 Silverado extended cab and it is hooked up to a pioneer NEX 8200. On the back of the pioneer unit, there is a reverse gear signal wire that can be used for the positive connection to this camera. The ground can tie right in with your head unit ground. The only bad thing is you need to extend the camera power wires to go from your tailgate to the radio. Installation of the handle itself took less than 5 minutes. All you need to do is remove the three screws on the back of your tailgate and use a plastic pry tool pop the stock bezel off. Afterwards, you can drill a hole in the bottom of the tailgate to fish the wire harness through and the new bezel snaps into place with pressure clips. Afterwards, you reattach the three screws put the tailgate back on, and you're good to go. An alternate installation method would be to tie in with your reverse bulb wire on your tail light, however this might not produce enough power for the camera due to the fuse size allocated for the tail light. I have not tried this method to verify.
Working as expected

Spent the day wiring up my new rear view camera (2nd camera) for my 2013 Silverado 1500. The old camera I had lasted just a few short weeks until fall weather kicked in. Needless to say I was greatly disappointed that it failed so quickly even after the company said it was water proof. It rusted pretty fast too during the winter. It was a standalone camera I mounted under the handle where this new camera is integrated into the handle frame. A much nicer arrangement. Plenty of wire came with it, so not a problem mounting it other than having to get down on the ground to do it. It was nice that the whole video wire was encased in corrugated tubing to protect it when underneath the truck.
Just a few things that took a star away. The camera wire with the square connector was barely long enough to make the hole underneath the truck bed, probably should add another couple inches in favor of the connector, so that it can be more protected under the truck. I added a piece of corrugated tubing to cover the wire as well. The hookup arrangement I have required me to buy an RCA connector coupler, because the video wire had a connector I wasn't expecting. Not a big deal since I used a wireless transmitter device from the previous camera, and wasn't prepared for the mixup. The camera works nice, but was a little disappointed it didn't have the distance lines in the view like the old camera. My guess is that the factory video screen would probably display the lines instead. I'm using a phone video app over a wireless connection, since the truck doesn't have a screen. I also hooked up power to ignition instead of reverse wire, so that the wireless connection won't be interrupted every time I pull forward. I have a separate foot switch to turn off the camera when not in use and the truck is running. I mainly bought it to help hook up a trailer.
Overall it was still worth the effort if you are willing to spend the time to hook it all up yourself.
UPDATE 6/27/17: Used it for the first time when hooking up trailer. It will take some time getting used to the video image. Picture is okay, but not great by any means. Could be a combination of WiFi transmitter, software and/or camera image quality, but I can't complain given the setup. Unfortunately, both the hitch and the trailer tongue are dark in color which makes it difficult to know when the hitch ball is under the tongue. Might have to colorized the ball once, like using an old tennis ball or something.
