High quality device, but....
mmp1953•October 18, 2016
This is a quality device, it's well built and looks like it's made for an industrial/professional environment. I'm currently using this on a 4 year old HP Envy 15 with Windows 10. When it works it works quite well but it's rather intermittent. I think it's Windows drivers or the old machine I have because sometimes the LED on the device will light when I'm prompted to login and sometimes it doesn't. I've uninstalled it and the drivers and it's still intermittent. In the next couple of weeks I'm expecting a new Dell XPS 13 machine and hopefully I'll get better results with that machine. I will attempt to update this review when the new machine arrives and I've used the Digital Persona 710 with that machine for a while.
Update: I have to change this to 5 stars because it's working flawlessly. I was experiencing what I call OE (operator error). I learned that when placing my finger on the reader I have to apply a certain amount of pressure and then the 710 is able to read my finger and the LED I mentioned not coming on was a misread on my part. There's 2 LED's that light up while the device is reading your finger, a blue arrow at the front of the 710 just above it's name and then there's a green one that encircles the place where you place your finger (it's in the white area around the outer portion of the reader). It works great and it's so much easier than typing in my password every time. Great product for me and worth every penny.
