I got this protein powder to use as a post-workout breakfast meal replacement. I'm trying to achieve a caloric deficit to help lose stubborn weight, and changing up my breakfast routine has been immensely helpful. I add a fiber supplement to feel fuller longer, but I've tried Naked Whey without it and was surprised at how satiated it kept me for several hours.
TASTE: 3/5
I ordered the chocolate flavor because I normally don't like vanilla protein powders, and I didn't want unflavored because I'm not mixing this in smoothies or other recipes. As far as chocolate protein powders go, this is not going to taste like a candy bar. If you need a bold flavor to help you choke down a protein shake, look at other brands. However, I'm happy with the mild chocolate flavor. It goes well with a shot of black coffee, doing double duty as a breakfast and caffeine source. But it's also fine with just water, which was a delightful surprise. It would be easy to overpower in a smoothie if I ever wanted to, and I'm not finding myself sick of chocolate after a couple weeks. Coconut sugar isn't my favorite sweetener, but I appreciate that this powder isn't cloyingly sweet. I've had tastier chocolate protein powders, but I love that Naked uses as few ingredients as possible and keeps their shake low on calories. The "meh" taste isn't enough to put me back on the search for another protein powder that ticks as many of my boxes as Naked.
BLENDING: 5/5
Not sure about the reports of clumping. I use a blender bottle most mornings, but I've had decent results without the whisk ball. I mix mine with coffee and/or water and a few ice cubes and shake for several minutes. If I need an extra shot of fat and/or calories, I add a couple tablespoons of whipping cream, and it blends into a silky, frothy shake that goes down easy. When in doubt, just shake a little longer.
RESULTS: 5/5
As I mentioned I add fiber to my morning shakes, but even without, this protein powder has been a great meal replacement that helps me reach my calorie deficit goals. It's easy whether I'm in the office or at home. It delivers the protein I need after my weight training, and it doesn't make me feel gassy or bloated like other brands I've tried. I notice that my recovery time from intense gym sessions is shorter, and I don't get wildly hangry like I used to when I would have a big lifting day.
OVERALL: 4/5
Are there tastier options? Sure. But Naked Whey focuses on good ingredients and provides a relatively cheap (per shake) protein powder. I was worried about how I was going to change my diet to reach my weight goals, and this protein powder has made changing my initial bad habits easier. Do your research to make sure you choose a protein powder that will help you meet your goals, but definitely give Naked Whey a look if you want something simple that will get the job done.

No more 1 Pound?

I really like this protein powder and I buy the 5 lb, but wish they still offered the 1 lb. I'd like to try the chocolate, but not 5 lbs of it. Can't find it, but I really love the Vanilla for my whey protein. I use it in a shaker bottle, you don't want to use it in a high speed blender for more than 30 seconds, expands too much. I use plant protein in my blended drinks where I add fruit etc.

Very good chocolate flavor, old style, and the coconut sugar sweetening is light. The whey powder is finely powdered. The powder doesn't dissolve well and tends to form clumps. I'm not a smoothie fan, so I don't know how to make the drink less clumpy. But... I really like the Amino Acid listing. So often it's just listed as protein, but no specific aminos. And the coco sugar is just sweet enough no artifical stuff. I like this Naked Whey Chocolate powder, and will order again.
All natural with no unspecified ingredients.

Really 4.5. First, some caveats. No matter how soluble or "easy mixing" a protein drink claims to be, I always use a blender. Manually shaking any powder will always make me gak. I use a "milk shake" capable blender, with ice crushing, so it has the consistency of a thick shake. I typically mix it with water and sometimes with milk.
The taste is ok, not good or bad, I hesitate to use the word bland; it can more accurately be described as subtle. No points taken off for this, since it is so subjective, and I have tasted other protein drinks that are terrible tasting. I like the fact that it has only a few ingredients, and does not have "natural and artificial" flavors as most of the other brands. Those brands rarely specify the exact "natural and artificial" flavors, so you never know what you get. To get it to taste better, I add a tablespoon of organic drinking chocolate. This gives it more flavor, and it goes from OK to very good tasting.
The big negative is the size and shape of the container. This led to a "get that ugly thing out of my kitchen" reaction, so I was constrained to keeping it in the garage or basement"¦ unless"¦ I decanted it into a more "girly" container. I chose to do this, and found out that there is no way to neatly transfer the powder to another more aesthetic container. The shape of the mouth, combined with the texture of the powder makes neat transfer impossible, even scoop by scoop, since there is always some spillage when taking it out, especially when down towards the bottom. There is no way to get deep down, even turning it on the side, and no way to use a funnel, too cakey. When transferring I used to get the "look at this mess you made" angry stare; I want to say that it is "your" fault for making me transfer the powder, but this would probably not be conducive to my long term happiness, so I wisely keep my mouth shut.
This led me to creating my own funnel, shown in the attached photos. I purchased some collapsing, wide mouth funnels from Amazon. I cut a hole in the cover of the protein drink, and glued the funnel on to the cover with food-grade adhesive. This worked well for a few days, until the glue gave out, causing quite a mess. So in iteration 2, I not only glued the funnel, but put a nut and bolt to hold it tight. Now I can transfer the powder without any mess. It has been solid for months now.
In conclusion, the only negative is the price and the shape of the container. They now have a smaller container, but the price is a lot more. The positives are an ok tasting product with natural, listed ingredients with no unspecified "natural and artificial" contents. Additionally, it supports small businesses.

I love that this protein powder option does not include unnecessary extra ingredients like flavoring, coloring, or sweeteners. It's just straight forward unflavored whey which is exactly what this bariatric patient needs for her nutrient rich morning smoothies. I get all the flavor I need from the fruit and leafy greens used in my smoothies so I don't need or want added stuff in my whey. The seller fulfilled my order timely and efficiently. I will purchase Naked Whey again and again and highly recommend it.
