This Hanger Works Well...
C. Weaver✓ Verified Purchase•May 4, 2018
I needed a hanger for a bird feeder I wanted to hang next to a side yard sunflower feeder I had. It had to be mounted on an existing pole that didn't have any items to fix it to. I needed an on-the-pole type mount that would stay put when a bunch of squirrels or raccoons would try to get to the feeder. I really didn't realize how long or big this hanger really was until I received it. It came with a good mounting bracket, screws, and anchors for mounting into a stone type wall. I didn't need the anchors and noted that the screws were not long enough to give a good solid anchor for the hanging pole. I had some longer anchoring type screws that proved to work better as mounting screws. I got the mounting done and found that the hanger pole was a bit longer than I expected but this didn't prove to be a problem. I noted that the pole was long enough and strong enough to easily hole the feeder I wanted to hang on it. I also noted that the pole was large enough and angled enough that it would prevent the squirrels and raccoons from easily getting to the bird seed. After getting it put up, and found that it worked out really well. I noted that the birds had easy access to the feeder and it worked out really well for me. I really good buy....
Very nice hanger!!!

I would give this a 5-star except that the enclosed screws are not adequate to hold the hanger. Also the nut that is welded on to the sleeve holder is only welded on one side. Tightening the knob to tighten on the hanging rod pulled it away on the side that is not welded. GrayBunny can take care of these issues and make it a five-star item.
Update: I e-mailed customer service about the defective part and they sent a replacement as soon as I sent them the order number. I'm very pleased with their response. Excellent customer service! I raised their rating to a five star and have since ordered two more hooks. Thanks to Syed and Sarah who helped.

Great solid bracket, use your own mounting screws.

I liked this hanger so much that I bought another for the other side of the deck. It is sturdy and solid, looks and feels like it will hold up for years. I have a large bird feeder that can hold about 5 lbs of seed on the first one, and it bounces a little but is obviously not taxed at all by the weight. I like the swivel arrangement that allows me to swing it in to fill the feeder, then swing it out and lock it there to view the birds easily from a nearby window.
Like some other reviewers, I would suggest that you save the mounting screws that come with the unit for hanging pictures and get some serious hardware to mount it. I screwed to a 4x4 deck railing post and used 4 #12 2" long stainless steel screws, and that seemed about right. I would suggest that you use #12 size screws appropriate to your mounting surface. This bracket has some weight to it, and the length of it produces quite a bit of leverage. The mounting screws that come with it are, in my opinion, nowhere near strong enough.

Solid hanger, but didn't quite do what I needed to prevent animals from getting to my bird feeder,

It's okay, Since the description states that you can rotate the arm by "loosening the swivel", I thought that this was supposed to lock into place by tightening at the base swivel. However, the deck hook I received definitely does not lock the arm - it swings easily. I purchased this particular deck hook because it was supposed to lock into place. I need to keep my bird feeders away from the neighborhood raccoons so they don't get to the bird food or chew up the bird feeder. Sadly, the first night I had this installed, a raccoon had swung the arm back to the deck so it could get access to the food in the bird feeder :(
Also, for my deck, I wanted to install this on a baluster - but the screw holes in the metal mount are too wide to do all 4 screws flush so I had to attach a couple screws at an angle to get this mounted securely. On that note, my package only had 2 screws so I had to supply the missing screws in order to attach this securely.
Since I've already installed it into my deck and made holes in the wood to do so, I'll just keep this hanger and try to figure out some other way to make sure the arm can't swing to prevent the raccoons from getting to the bird food. If nothing else, I guess I'll hang a plant out there and try to find a different extended hanger that actually locks the extension arm in place.

They have a coating that easily chips off

RUSTING AFTER 2 WEEKS. I've got five of these (two of these 39" models and three 49" GB-6833 models). Ordered two of the 49" models and received two poles but one mounting bracket. Their customer service is courteous and responsive -- they sent me a third 49" GB-6833 complete kit. Was impressed so ordered the next two 39" poles (thirsty hummingbirds and devious raccoons).
The poles are heavy duty steel but they sure as hell are not stainless. They have a coating that easily chips off. If you order two at a time I guarantee they will bang into each other during shipping cracking off the coating in numerous locations despite the copious amount of bubblewrap. These locations all rusted over with oxidation within two weeks for the original 49" kit which I put into service immediately.
Oh, you'll have to buy your own screws. From the five kits I only received 4 of 20 screws. They too are powder coated so I'm sure screwing them in will cause the head to rust in short order. Recommend 304 steel wood screws or 316 if you are really rust adverse.
FINAL RATING: These are not fit to be outside in their current form. They do function well however and customer service was good. I just didn't plan to need to strip the rest of the coating off with a medium grit sandpaper, find a container long enough submerge these rods in order to do zinc electroplating, and them repaint them with a rustoleum product. These are the things I would expect the manufacturer handle before they start advertising it as "PREMIUM QUALITY: Rust resistant, heavy duty steel construction"
