A little snug, and definitely not for dogs who don't have tails.

I've used these for almost a week now on my 10 year old 50lb English Bulldog who is starting to not be able to 'hold it' at night anymore.
The first thing I noticed was that they were snug on him. I got the Large. In sweaters, collars, and shoes he has to have Large because of how broad his chest is (for example: his Thundershirt is a Large. It fits his chest and neck perfectly but its so long it covers past his tail nub). His back end is very tiny, so it was surprising that I could barely get these on him.
The nights without accidents were great. The night with accidents was not so great. From what my husband and I deducted, between the hours of 11pm and 4:30am, he #2'd. Since he doesn't have a tail, the tail opening acted as sort of a meat-grinder effect to his doggy doo. I'll spare you the details. Somehow after this, he scooted out of the diaper, leaving a trail of his struggle to do so all around him. The diaper sat there, still velcroed and filled with poo, as he proceeded to tinkle next to his bed. It was a fun morning.
I'd recommend sizing up, and not purchasing if you have a dog with a docked tail.

Great, great product! My 9 month golden retriever went into heat and I didn't want the mess everywhere. At 65 lbs, I was nervous about the sizing and anxious to get some covering for her ASAP (thank you amazon, prime!). I pulled out an old sewing kit measuring tape, and ordered according to their chart. The XL fits perfectly, plenty of room for her huge bushy tail to be pulled through the diaper hole. She has done everything she can possibly do to try to get out of this, but to no avail! The Velcro is MUCH stronger than I anticipated. 4 days in, she can't manage get them off whatsoever, we are keeping our home clean, and she only seems annoyed the first 5 minutes when we strap her into it. I would buy these 10 times.This diaper does have a built in absorbant padding, but I may line it with a sanitary napkin to protect from staining. I did hand wash 1 diaper already, and there was some residual staining and it took a long time to dry (over a day). I assume it would be more successful in normal laundry machines. The velcro keeps the diaper very snugly secured around her waist.

We purchased these for our 12 lb cocker spaniel mix after she recently needed diapers. She's and old lady and recently became more unreliable about going potty outside. So we first bought the disposable diapers from the pet store. They did not work well and the mess would leak out the tail hole. So we ordered these. These work SO much better. We have added Poise pads for extra absorbency but they did pretty well even without them.
Update: After several weeks of use, we have not had to clean up any messes on carpet or flooring! I am beyond amazed. We have slept so much better too, knowing we don't have to jump up at every little noise to take her out. The addition of the Poise pad (split in half to the point where the tail hole is) has been genius. Our sweet girl doesn't seem to mind them too much either. She is very skinny on the back end so I have to readjust them periodically. Her tail slides down the hole some too, but that doesn't affect how well they are working.

Great item. They fit my 5lb chihuahua perfectly. They wash great, had no issues w the product or shipping. I used a liner but the one built in is just fine and they are very reusable.
