Didn’t hold up to old lab pushing on door

I loved the idea of this product. The clean look, the adjustability and easy to follow directions, along with an extra adhesive attachment were great. However....I think it lasted all of one week before our dog forced the door open and cracked the thing in half. It separated in a way that was easy to reglue. I bought epoxy glue, but the dog has broken right through it twice.
So I now have a VERY firmly glued on square on my very nice kitchen door which I have no idea how to remove without totally ruining the paint and the door.
I think there's a weakness in the manufacturing of this product. It is held together by four small dots of melded plastic and a circle in the middle that you can see in the last picture (the glue obscures it a bit). I wouldn't want to rely on this to keep a child out of a room.
So, we loved it for a week and I really wish it had worked out. I would like to see a stronger product and would definitely buy a new and improved version, because this is a great idea.
Works great! We ordered a second.

We got one to try as our little toddler was ambitious and really wanted to get into the kitty litter room. Baby gates were simply another object she could climb and topple herself over, we needed something a little different.

This door stop keeps the door cracked open for the Cat with the rubber guard and closed from the toddler with the cloth and plastic latch! It's so genius. It sticks on with a two sided adhesive sticker so we don't have to drill holes into our old doors which was important for us(lead paint).

After we used this for a few months we got a second that keeps our upstairs corridor shut from her as well but let's our Cat have a secluded area away from grabby baby hands.
What a great idea!

We have a new kitten in our home and she has taken over one room when she needs to be isolated. We have food, water, and most importantly a litter box in that room for her. Therein lies the problem. My dog loves the tootsie rolls she finds in the litter box and eats all the cat food she can get her mouth on. What to do? I searched the internet for ideas. Put a book behind the door that I can reach in and move out of the way. Put a washcloth under the door (didn't work on carpet). There are some expensive gadgets out there but then I found this one. It works perfectly. My only regret is that I haven't had one of these through the years of raising kittens and puppies. We can leave the door open just enough for the kitten to go through to eat or use her litter box. And, as she grows, it's adjustable to make it longer so a bigger cat can go through and it will still keep the dogs out. Because it's just a lightweight strap, you can move it easily with one finger for quick access to the room. When I work in that room on the computer I can easily reach through the door and hook it so only the kitten can come in. This is a great invention. The adhesive is holding tight and we open and close that door many times a day. I would highly recommend that product to anyone wanting to allow limited access to a room.
You saved my sanity!

I was about to lose my mind between my two year old and the dog. One wanted the cat food, and one wanted the litter box. I couldn't use a regular child safety lock without cutting off access for the cats. I had no idea what to do short of rehoming the dog and the baby. ;)
The Door Buddy is a genius idea. The strap adjusts easily to allow enough space for the cats to have unrestricted access, yet not enough room for the little one, or the dog, to squeeze through. Problem solved! I ordered two more for the other rooms. One for the room that has the second litterbox and one for the guestroom so the herd of cats can escape the dog and baby when they need a break. (Oh if only it were that easy for the grownups. ..)
As far as cons, I haven't come across any and I've been using Door Buddy for over a month.
So if you find yourself trying to decide who to keep, (the kids, the dogs, or the cats) keep them all and just get The Door Buddy.
BONUS: It's made in the USA! Booyah!
*Tip: From my experience, this is how I apply any item that uses 3M tape:
Even if the area, where you're about to place it, looks clean, clean it anyway. Then I wipe the spot with rubbing alcohol.Let it dry completely. After it's in place, I ALWAYS allow it to set anywhere from a minimum of 10hrs up to 24hrs before using. Am I going overboard? Perhaps, but I've had items up, using 3M tape, for over 2 years now that haven't come down.
Don't waste your money

I don't know why I thought this would work. If I could give NO stars, I would. I set the lock and let the adhesive stick for 2 days before attempting to connect it. My 2 year old daughter pushed the door right open and the strap came right off, along with ripping the paint off my door.. Maybe this would work for a gentle animal you want to keep out of a room, but definitely not a toddler!
