Does the job, but assembly "can" be difficult

I bought this for my mother's bed so she wouldn't fall out and also to give a solid surface to hold on to when feeling herself falling or to pull herself up if she did fall. I needed this style because she has a bed with slats and a single mattress, not a mattress and box spring. Most bedrails need to be placed between two mattresses so that the stabilizing base does not lie directly on slats which enables the base to either fall through or balance precariously on the bed slats. I know this because I tried another bedrail type and had to return it. I needed one that rested on the platform frame without sliding, which this seemed to do.
When it arrived, I realized that this would fill all my criteria, except for one thing, which I will get to in a minute. The bedrails are adjustable in width and height. The height adjustment causes the side railings to go down a little bit to overhang the bed frame affording less side-to-side movement to the bedrails, and makes it harder for the sides to fall through the slats. It allows my mother to pull on the rails and it stay in place. This is what I was looking for.
The one problem, which was a big one, is the partial assembly by the manufacturer.
There are two central bars that go under the mattress that connect to sidepieces that are bent up. On the sidepieces are foam tubes around the metal tubes that are meant to cushion the metal tubes on the bed and prevent sliding and damage to the metal. They are supposed to be positioned as close to the bend as possible so as to enable the side pieces to be pushed together to accommodate a narrow bed width, and so as to be located where the sidepieces rest on the bedframe. They weren't. It took a lot of brute force by a strong person to move these pieces to the edges where they were supposed to be. We considered cutting them off or using a lubricant (which we didn't have), but we let out a great sigh of relief when we eventually were able to move these foam tubings.
Once we were able to do that we were happy with the product, it does what we want it to do, it is well-made, the pieces fit together smoothly, etc. Our bed was twin width; if yours is wider to it might not be necessary to move any mispositioned foam, but it seems random where the foam is placed. Just be warned the process of moving the tubing is difficult, but it can be done with enough ingenuity and/or strength.

Works for adjustable beds!

After my elderly mother fell out of bed and injured her arm, I started looking for bed rails for adjustable beds. Almost all of the bed rails are designed to be used with a traditional mattress and are not designed for adjustable beds While it took a while to wiggle the pieces into place, due to the placement of the foam, non-slip sleeves, I did not have to cut them off. When I first put it on the bed, I thought it wasn't going to stay on, but it did and has worked wonders. It seems sturdy and secures in place. I can easily take one side off, for mom to get in and out of bed, and then pop the side right back in place. While she can get get in and out without removing it, it is difficult for her to get in a good position up in the bed. Mom has an XL twin adjustable bed with a 14" hybrid mattress.

It is working as described. The only thing that would be better is if it came with straps to anchor to the bed.
