My Mom was rolling out of bed. I bought these rails for her and just installed them a few days ago. My Dad and I installed it together with nothing other than our drill. We had it together in less than five minutes. What I was worried about was how it would look. The reason being is my Mom is only 66 years old and I did not want to put these on her bed, like she was some old person. I want her room not to look like a hospital room or nursing home room. However, after installing them, they don't look like that at all. They actually look great. They not only will keep her off the floor, she can use them to either get up in the bed or sit down in the bed. If she doesn't want to use them, she can just click the red button and put them down. They also are easy to slide over in and out of bed. These things are visually pleasing to look at, very functionable, easy to install, and a great price as well.
It has definitely been a lifesaver!

I ordered this for my elderly mother to keep her from rolling out of bed and possibly injuring herself and just having to lay on the floor.

We've been using it for quite a while now just to make sure I give it the most accurate review possible. I have to say I absolutely love this product as it allows her to feel safe without "trapping" her should she actually want to get out of bed. It was pretty easy to put together and I liked that it had different height "settings" just in case it didn't fit well.

The only downsides I've noticed:
It does have a bit of a wobble to it but nothing terrible as it works as intended. The only other "problem" is that if the bed you're putting it on is higher off the ground (i.e feet don't instantly touch the ground) you have to sit on the bar/handle and scoot across it which might take a little while to get used to.

Other than those two issues I have nothing but praise for this!

Kept my StepMom from falling out of bed
Everything I could’ve ever asked for after my hospital stay

During the time that I was in the hospital and subsequent rehabilitation, I found these handrails on Amazon. I was going to put them on the twin bed in my guestroom, where I would sleep until I got my strength back. The bed is an adjustable bed. One of my brothers measured all of the segments of the bed and created a hinged plywood platform base for the handrails. It has worked like a charm. The only adjustment he had to make was to reverse the mounting brackets to allow for the mattress thickness. We ended up not needing the additional 5 inch brackets, even though he had ordered them just in case. I would highly recommend these. They fold away out of sight when they are no longer needed, alongside the sides of the mattress.
A challenge to install on a metal spring foundation
brian r kelley✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 19, 2023
The short brackets that come with the rail makes the rail sit either 3" below or 3" above the foundation. The brackets are not designed to attach to a metal spring foundation. I needed to fabricate two 38x1-1/2 steel bars to fasten the rail to the metal bed frame. These had to be precisely located to avoid interfering with the lift mechanisms.

I found that the 3" lift made the collapsed rail too high, and uncomfortable to sit on as patient was getting into bed. And 3" drop was too low to provide any fall prevention. The manufacturer could provide a zero -drop alternative by providing a 3/8" mounting hole and instructions to cut off the 3" bend.
