The sound is good and it plays tapes and has a radio.

I, like so many others in my age bracket, needed something to play my cassettes. I received the unit today and checked all the buttons and functions. The sound is very good and all the buttons seem to be working. I've tried the radio (AM & FM), CD player and the cassette player. I have two issues; one regarding the favorite save buttons. Only three stations can be saved; not three on AM and three on FM. The other issue is the unit does not turn "off" but displays "standby". I'm using the a/c plug so am not too concerned at the time, but if I decide to use as an emergency radio on batteries I am wondering how long the batteries will last in the standby mode. I've read all the instructions and was not able to find anything about the standby mode. All in all I feel like I got my moneys worth.

For the money, is a good portable unit. Doesn't have a lot of distortion and seems to be dependable. I don't see any use for cassette capability, but was a usable feature when this unit first came out. The price is reasonable for its intended use.
