EVGA PSUs are just quality.

The only bad thing about this PSU is that the SATA power plugs are tight, like a half millimeter too tight, takes some force to get it fully seated and removed so be careful not to bend your HDD/SDD power ports.

Cables are a good length but not super long. Ran mine in a NZXT P630 with ease. I love the black color with black cables too.

I bought mine as used like new from a reputable dealer, so far so good. I will update if anything changes for the worse.
2-and-a-half years, no issues. Powers everything I have.

2-and-a-half years, no issues. Powers everything I have.
Not a single complaint. All is well.
Cable management easy with my Full Tower.
Eco Mode is cool but I usually have it off. Don't know if it makes a difference.

Amazing Power Supply!
Darkoasis✓ Verified PurchaseJune 21, 2023
So I have had this Power Supply two years now. I bought mine from Amazon Warehouse. It was listed as Used - Like New. And boy was it. It was brand new in the box and hasn't been opened. The box just had a minor scratch/ding if you would even call it that. Product came just as if I got it new and I only paid 74.99!!! I have the EVGA G3 Supernova 850 Watt 80+ Gold version. Wow this thing is amazing. Fully modular, braided cables, 80+ gold, very very nice box, comes with a case for the PSU itself as well as a case for the extra cables. If you look up google reviews on this PSU you will see how amazing it is. 10 year warranty says it all. In testing they found out that EVGA could have listed this as a 1000 watt platinum rated power supply. It took over 1050 watts to shut this thing off! By far the best PSU I have ever owned. I've had it for two years and not had a single issue ever. I've never heard it once till this day. It runs so cool and quiet I had to check and make sure the fan was working. I'm not easy on it either. I have an Asus Prime X570 - PRO motherboard with an 8pin plus 4 pin cpu power. My system has a Ryzen 3900X overclocked, RTX 2070 Super massively overclocked, 32GB of G.Skill 3600mhz Ram, 6 case fans, a PCIe wifi 6/BT 5.0 wireless adapter card, one HDD, 3 sata SSDs, and two NVMe M.2 SSDs. My CPU cooler is a huge Noctua NH-D15 with twin 140mm fans as well. I provided some pics but that was before I upgraded the case, GPU, and CPU cooler. In this pics the GPU is a GTX 1070 and Hyper 212 Evo cooler with twin 120 fans. My PC also has a optical drive, NZXT LED touchscreen that controls my temps and fans, a portable SSD, headset, keyboard, mouse, sound system, microphone, RGB gaming desk, Xbox One controller, duel monitors, and other things plugged in still. I have tons of things being powered by this Power Supply and my PC is on and running anywhere from 5 to 10 hours a day, everyday. I can't praise this PSU enough. Once again I got this 850 watt, 80+ Gold, fully modular, 10 year warranty EVGA G3 Supernova for 74.99! I can't stress how amazing of a deal that is for the PSU I now have. I would def pay full price for this. A PSU of this quality that will last you 10 years at the very minimum. You can't beat that imo. Plus its completely silent, runs cool, looks super nice, and the cables are very high quality. 850 watts is enough to power whatever 99% of most people would ever need. I have between 3-4000 dollars in my PC now and it's a beast. I don't even come close to using 850 watts. If you catch this PSU in stock and most definitely if you catch it on sale buy it instantly! 11/10 from me. Before this I had a Corsair 750 watt PSU and this unit blows it out of the water in every way possible. EVGA fan for sure now. So much that my RTX 2070 Super is EVGA and it looks and runs just as nice as this Power Supply and comes with the same fantastic warranty(even tho I voided it on the card lol). Just buy it.

I was a little worried due to some of the highlighted lower reviews about damage to CPUs or MB. I went ahead and took what I considered at the time to be a risk because my old PSU's fan was dying on me (And that probably meant it was nearing its end anyway). I'm glad I went ahead with this purchase and my PC is running smoothly and quietly.
---

The contents include the PSU itself, the cables listed in the information page, a soft storage case for the PSU and cables. The storage case itself I was surprised by because it felt over the top at first, and then I remembered that small details like that are nice, even if a little extra. All-in-all, everything was where it was supposed to be.

---

My complaints more involve installation itself and it's mostly gripes about cable management in general. The cables are pretty stiff and that is both good durability wise and frustrating installation-wise. That said, the modular aspect of this made it less painful overall as I only needed to pick out the cables I needed. I saved a bit of space and time because of that.

---

For the critical issues people have run into, they worth taking into consideration since it can threaten expensive parts of your build. If you make this purchase, have a precaution checklist: Am I using the correct cable for the wall socket (Use the provided thick cable or similar; flat cables may not work)? Am I using the cables provided? Are my cables and connections secure? Have I read the manual to make sure I've done the installation properly and reviewed other cautions the company has included in the manual? Did I buy from a reputable seller? And the one that may draw a frown: Do I have the funds to replace parts in the event of failure?

If your PC is your baby and the highlighted critical reviews worry you, make sure you have back up plans.

I actually bought this 550w power supply to reduce the weight of a rig that had an older Antec 900w power supply. This is a rig that I gave to my dad which has a Xeon x5690,an EVGA x58 FTW3 motherboard, 12gb of RAM with an EVGA GTX 660ti. I found a smaller Antec case and I used the 212 as the CPU cooler which works decently for an older 32nm CPU. I really wanted to get a 1050ti for this rig but I'm not going to pay +$50 over MSRP for an entry level card.

It was worth it to pay a little bit more for the G3 version because it should be more reliable than a Bronze unit and more efficient. This isn't a run of the mill unit that's questionable and the power output is going to be as advertised. If you're on the fence and you have a little bit of extra money to pare then you can't go wrong with the G3 line.

550w is enough to power a basic gaming rig. 450w is fine for a basic rig with a GTX 1050ti but I avoid recommending a 450w power supply just in case the user upgrades the GPU to a higher tier card that needs at least a 550w power supply.

Parts like the RAM, SSD, HDD, and a few fans won't burn up a lot of power. The Graphics card is the main culprit when it comes to burning up a lot of power, unless you go with a low power card like a GTX 1050ti which doesn't use a lot of juice. This 550w unit is good enough for a card like the GTX 1070 or 1080. If you're going to step up to the GTX 1080ti, if you an R9 390x/290x, or if you're going to go with a Vega 64 or 56 then you will need a 650w power supply at the least.

HEDT platforms like Intel x299 and AMD x399 need a power supply that's in the 750w-850w and above range. It's not that these platforms chew though a lot of power so much as it's the motherboards need dual CPU connectors that are only on bigger power supplies.
