Does not work properly in client mode
David T.✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 16, 2017
The router did not work properly in client mode, as reported by other purchasers. I was using it as a wireless bridge to a credit card reader that only had an Ethernet port and suffered constant dropped connections. Another purchaser reported DHCP problems caused by the router and my symptoms matched those (after about 24 hours, the DHCP lease would time out and the connection was then lost). I replaced it with a NetGear N600 Wi-Fi wireless extender (which can also act as a bridge) and had no more problems.

It was also difficult to set up and administer. The Web page it presents for configuration does not work in Microsoft Edge, the default browser for Windows 10. It worked fine once I guessed that perhaps the problem was Edge and opened the login page using IE. The Web page was also unclear about important steps, notably the need to click a certain icon to save your settings.

The NetGear router was about twice as expensive but worth it. Of course, it is not compact like the TP-Link N300 router, so it might not make a good travel router if you are packing light. But if you want something that works in client mode, look elsewhere.
Worth every penny!

Worth every penny! I have this hooked up to a TiVo Mini so that I can connect wirelessly to a apartment kitchen TV where there is really no good way to get ethernet or coax in to provide the data feed. All that being the case this setup is working beautifully!!! The device itself is a really cool piece of technology that is really easy to setup and configure. And the thing is tiny! Overall Pretty cool....
Excellent product to create network redundancy
B. Everly✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 27, 2017
Using this to create network redundancy if my worthless CenturyLink goes out. Connected to my Verizon jetpack then routed through a secondary modem with the same network name. Now when the network goes down I can easily switch my connection from the home network to the mobile broadband connection and still maintain use of all of my connect home devices. This is a must have for folks that work from home, but watch the data usage!
DOA - Updated

(Updated review - see below) Didn't work out of the box - the connect light just flashes and flashes. Tried wired/wireless setup, resetting, and nothing seemed to get it to go. Probably a decent device if it worked. Missed my 30-day return w/Amazon, and I'll try contacting the manufacturer directly for a replacement.

Update December 2016: TP-Link customer support worked with me to replace the defective unit. New unit works like a charm. Upgraded review from 2- to 4-stars.
Great Little Device for Connecting older Ethernet Devices to a WiFi network
Steve✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 31, 2016
Took about 10 minutes including unboxing to set this up in client mode - made it possible to connect my Ethernet based Pioneer receiver to my network. And it's got a 2nd port that I will plug my Blue ray player into. It wouldn't have taken 10 minutes but I had to go take a picture of the label on the device to get the wifi password before I could perform the config.

I've used other TP Link products, mostly access points in a school and they really worked pretty well. When you consider the price it's even more amazing.
