great design, mediocre materials

The design works really well and does get the coals going faster, usually 15 min if I stoke the fire a little in the beginning. the elbow makes it easier to add some fuel to get it going faster and for manual blowing of the coals to push it along. The down side is that the elbow piece is black, but the paint has nearly completely come off on the inside and is starting to flake on the outside. the upper portion of the outside and inside walls (everywhere the coals touch) is now getting surface rust after every use. The grate at the bottom is rusting and looks like its not going to last that long. As a whole the unit is solid and works great, but now I have to clean it up and then paint it with proper ultra high temp paint to keep it in good condition. No idea about the grate at the bottom though.

Every once in awhile a product comes along that changes your life. This is one of those products. These guys took a clumsy device and turned it into a masterpiece. There is no other charcoal starter that works this well. I only needed one piece of newspaper from my Barron's to light all the coals.

Better than average material used in the manufacturing of this product. It should (hopefully) last longer than other cheaper chimney's. It does indeed seem to get the charcoal lit quicker. Very nice design.

When I bough this chimney I thought how much quicker can it be? Well I think this chimney is incredible The design actually works and has a windtunnel affect. Awesome
