Regarding this Autel product.
As my first-ever automotive scan tool purchased so far i'm glad i bought it. So that's why they get a five star rating from me but....

Regarding Autel customer service.
On that they get one star rating from me. Why? I had a concern over the update download part of this tool opportunity and messaged them about it. The way it was responded to seemed like my concern wasn't specific to that. I replied with more detail to help ensure that it is understood. The response i received was that my concern as resolved. No, it wasn't. Not even close! Their customer service gave me a question about which model tool i have and i answered that which is this one the AL539 - along with, what was is of concern to me! And the reply i received was that since im no longer responding - but i did respond via REPLY directly after their question of which model i have, and it was like what i replied with wasn't even read. Btw, i went back to confirm that i did reply before submitting this review. So, the bottom line is, while i do like the Autel product i purchased i strongly dislike their customer service which is why is when next i purchase a more comprehensive automotive scan tool it won't be from Autel .

The problem with my vehicle was that it was running rough. Hopefully only a bad plug or plug wire -- but which one? With my luck it would be the last one I check if done the old fashioned way, by Guess and by Gosh. But I have an AL539, and it told me right away. Whoopee, what's not to like!? Fixed it right away and didn't end up with bruised and bloodied hands.

What I don't like is that the manual is one of the worst manuals I have ever seen. I know manuals because, being a design engineer, I have had to write them every so often, and they must be written for users who know nothing about the subject, and want to know as little as possible yet still get the job done. The manual was incredibly difficult to read, just as boring, and had a relatively worthless index, so I eventually gave up. Then I downloaded an online version just to make sure it was up to date. Why? Because with an electronic manual I can do automated searches for the information I want and skip all the Mickey Mouse gibberish in the paper manual.

One more thing. I read in some of the stuff I received with the tester that I should immediately update it before using it. So I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what that was all about ... is the update on the disk or do I have to download it? Finally gave up and called the factory and asked to talk to someone. Got someone and that person said the tester hasn't been changed for a very long time and there is no reason to update it -- just use it. Then why all the stuff that said I had to update it???

Oh, and another thing. The instrument is kinda cool because you can set it up for different languages. But there's a menu item within that unit that is dead stuck on only communicating in Spanish. Nothing I tried would change that. If I had a clue what it says, I'd let you know, but "¦

I plugged AL539 into my Honda Accord to see what the screen looked like. The first thing I noticed was the awesome color interface that it had. Anyway, I thought it was touchscreen but it wasn't. There were 46 features in it, and I performed some OBDII basic test. Lucky for me, there were no error codes, no freeze frame data and all misfire cylinders'status were fine. It also featured "DTC Look Up" function which allowed me to check basic information about some error codes.There were many different options with the Multimeter, which was really cool.All in all, Autel AL539 is an absolute success.
