I decided to get a new scanner cause my old one was about 16 years old and I got back into working on cars during the off season. I have only used this for 3 vehicles so far, but it has saved me so much time hunting down the root cause of the issues. Something that would have taken me a couple hours to diagnose with a test light and multimeter now takes only a couple minutes, and led me directly to the cause of the issue.

This tool Cost however this is a must for every one let me say this most dont run a shop but you have people who over charge or your check engine light may not be on this is your safety net it will tell you you canpick your car up plug this in it will let you know how unless your mechanic is if tour a dyi person this is it

I don't think there is any other tool out there as widely capable for as many brands as this tool is at its price point. If you're looking for a tool to diagnose anything and don't need or want to deal with flashing control modules (that's what the dealer is for, half the time they do it for free, too!) this is the one to get.

I've used it on a few different BMWs, a VW and a Jeep so far and it talks to all the systems. I've been a VW guy for a long time and have used VCDS since 2006. This will do what VCDS does, maybe it doesn't have as many built in help to figure out things like coding, it doesn't have the nice graph for plotting injection pump timing and fuel temperature on a graph in real time like VCDS does for the old TDIs, but if you know what range of numbers to look for anyway, it still does basic settings to make that job doable.

What I am a little surprised at has nothing to do with the tool itself. I guess I've been so spoiled by working on VWs all these years that I didn't realize so many other automakers don't actually have as thorough live data and bi-directional tests and things that can be tweaked via coding or adaptations like VW allows. That's just how other automakers limit their own technology as far as what a scan tool is able to do with their vehicles.

Great, highly capable and easy to use scan tool at a great price. What else do you need to know?

A note to anyone looking to purchase this tool to not only diagnose and repair current OBDII systems but to diagnose and repair older OBD/OBDI vehicles,This tool will not access early OBDI vehicles that use a 12 pin ALDL. The 16 pin GM adaptor included in this kit will only access late model OBD/OBDI 95/96. I mention this because of current complaints about the adaptor set included in this Kit.

In the interest of transparency, All of my most important hand and diagnostic tools are made by Snap On so this tool really feels foreign in my hands.
This is, however, a very useful tool and definitely has its place.. It may also be helpful to research Autels legal wows with a certain Big Three Auto Manufacturer. Information is key.

I would purchase this tool again. But only if I was unable to purchase the Snap On Verus.

the only thing I found is it won't command electric parking brakes for the purpose of changing rear pads so far on audi and volkswagon......
