Vital setup instruction missing

WARNING - you must log into the modem through 10.0.0.1 and set up an admin account before the modem will allow internet access - either through Cat5 OR WiFi.
Neither the Xfinity nor the Arris tech support folks know this. And it isn't a step in the quick start guide.
7 days, 2 modems, 4 techs, 6 hours on the phone ... and the thing finally works.
Yeah - it works fine.

Easy swap out and is exactly like the comcast modem except for the color!

A really good modem so far. It matched almost exactly the modem provided by comcast. I was able to do the swap out myself ( three wires to swap) pretty straight forward. Then contact comcast for the tech part, they carry you through step by step. A little glitch with the phone set up , but that was on comcast! Speeds are great and all features on our service are working great!
Flakey chipset goes down; bridge mode doesn’t work correctly
G.E.✓ Verified Purchase•January 25, 2018
This modem has been a terrible performer. Bridge mode doesn't work correctly, meaning you cannot reliably use another router and/or Wi-Fi station behind it (I use both a wired Ethernet router as well as an Apple AirPort Extreme). During the 6 months I've owned it with my Xfinity service, I've had toneeaet the modem at least 2 dozen times, and it has a firmware bug that makes bridge mode eventually stop working (search the Internet and you'll find many reports of this problem). It's a poor design.
This modem was recommended by comcast and prevents them from charging me for ...

This modem properly placed will work your phone and computer negating the need for two modems. My problem was that my cable provider located the phone modem in the garage so that I would need two modems. One for the computer and one for the land line. It will pay for itself in less than two years. This modem was recommended by comcast and prevents them from charging me for rental which by the way is increasing this year.
After trying a few things they said the modem wasn't any good and should be returned

I had some trouble at first configuring the new modem. Comcast was no help. After trying a few things they said the modem wasn't any good and should be returned. I decided to shut everything down and restart the modem and this time it worked perfectly. My only complaint is that I don't see any discernable difference in operation from my old 2.0 modem and the new 3.0.
