The film is actually more of a vinyl cling - it's flexible, fairly heavy duty, and super easy to apply.
That said, we did NOT completely follow the package directions.
First, we measured the windows and cut the film to size using an L-square and household scissors.
If your scissors are sharp, then you can just power cut right thru it.
We did clean the windows.
Next we sponged on a solution of Dawn dish soap and warm water - one squirt into about 2 cups water.
The most difficult part was separating the backing from the film.
We peeled back about 12" - 15", aligned it with the top corner of the door, and squeegeed it on - easy peasy!
We just kept unrolling the film and squeegeeing it in place.
We did two framed French doors with one roll.

The instructions recommend using a spray bottle; a sponge is more controlled and didn't drip all over the place.
The instructions also state to cut the film 1" larger and then use a sharp blade to cut the film after applying.
No way! I use sharp blades and don't want cut glass or wood!
We made sure our measurements were correct, then cut to fit.

We didn't need to, but I think it would be easy to pull off and reapply if necessary.
All told, two french doors took just under an hour start to complete.

I have gone through three different films to cover my bathroom window so you can't see in it at night and this one is finally opaque enough to work properly. You can see the shadow of a hand if you touch the wall where did you touch against that you can tell what you're saying but 2 inches in front of you can't see anything at all not even shadows

Our front door faces the street (like most) and even though our house sits back a bit... we always felt exposed if we had to run into the kitchen half dressed! We didn't want to lose the light, though... and replacing the glass itself with something more opaque would have cost a LOT. We had used other films in the past in other houses and they would still allow someone to see in a bit... but this is GREAT!! Husband went outside during the day and even after dark and he couldn't see me through it... just if I got right up on the door he could see a shadow. So... great product. At night it looks a little odd from the inside of course... just solid white... but I'm willing to have that for the privacy it provides. Like all films... tricky to install well... just take your time and use a new razor blade with each window. Make sure to clean window thoroughly before installing. High quality product! HINT... I used a rubber food scraper/spatula instead of a squeegee and it worked great. Popped it off the handle and away I went. No bubbles.

From the last coup of months, we ordered this window film for most of our windows that have a privacy concern. Some of the windows are at the side of the house that very close to the neighbors. This film works great! It keeps the room bright and brings the nice soft light. The installation will need a little practice at first. I cut the film just 1/8" smaller than the actual size of my window. Then you'll need to use a silicone scraper or spatula to get the bubbles out from center to the edge. After that you'll need to spay water on the film. It will look good after a day or so.
