Color Me Deeply Regretting Not Salvaging the Thumb Screws Before Discarding Plastic Pedestal Fan
A. Tru Delight✓ Verified Purchase•May 9, 2024
However, even with a missing thumb screw, I rate this electric fly-swatter quite highly.
For the first time in all the electric fly-switters I've owned over the years -- Alas and alack, most manufacturers of these devices seem to be wedded to the tennis racket paradigm, and have been for at least three 30 years! -- a slightly oblong swatting surface, allowing one to get those pesky bugs in the corners. Thanx, Black Flag, for this technological innovation! 💋
The next technological advancement, a head that swivels, is something I've never even thought of! One might prefer a more elegant design that doesn't involve adjusting a thumb screw; but this is another first.
Speaking of thumb screws, one might expect to have one included with the unit... Furthermore, when I explored the Chinglish instructions on the package, I found them severely lacking. Now, I'm quite adept at understanding Chinglish from my daze traveling with the Chinese Energetic Medicine Show, with it's Chinglish-speaking founder. These instructions were pretty straightforward, with one exception, they misnamed one key component, to wit, they called the thumb screw, a "black hinge." As you can see from the photo, the hinge is clearly GREEN, NOT BLACK! What's so puzzling, is, since China has such a huge proportion of their population educated as engineers, one might have expected more accuracy in their instructions. I took out a magnifying glass, and studied the illustration. It turns out, the only thing that's black anywhere near the hinge is a black, star-shaped thumb screw, causing deep regret that I hadn't culled them from a plastic pedestal fan I dumped last spring when it stopped.
What to do to stabilize my new electric fly swatter? Knowing that the Chinese use off-the-shelf parts to save money, I searched Amazon for star-shaped thumb screws, found, and ordered them. They should arrive tomorrow. Then, I'll be able to use my excellent new electric fly swatter, without the head flopping and swinging back and forth! How excellent will that be?

The electrical grid could be a little bit tighter compared to some other zappers, but this is built pretty well and is not overly complicated controls wise like some others. Push the button to zap and that's about it.
Now, there is some adjustability in terms of being able to rotate and extend the articulating head, but you don't have to use those features all the time and it's nice to have options. Also because of the length and that adjustability, you can cover targets entirely leaving little in the way of escape.

Works awesome, you both hear the snap and see the spark.

These swatters are awesome, you can both hear and see mosquitoes get fried. The blue spark and loud crack are very satisfying after you've had a dang mosquito keeping you up in the middle of the night buzzing by your ears, landing on your face and biting again and again as you smack yourself in the face with your hands trying to kill it when half asleep.
Now with this I just keep it on the headboard, swat in the general direction of where I heard it and have killed them in the dark lying in bed. Once you get one on the swatter you can hold the button down and literally get the mosquito to start smoking, it's great! They use two AA batteries which are cheap and easy to find. You can't grill yourself with the swatter so it's safe for little kids to use. I really like mine I'm so I bought two more as we've had a ton of mosquitos this summer.

My wife and I had to paint the walls because of fly and mosquitoes guts being mashed by and old fashioned fly swatted. These zappers are nice. They work and work well. We can enjoy sitting on the deck. Sometimes it just stuns the fly but it knocks the fly to the floor. Just get a paper towel and throw it outside. The main issue's are no more blood on the walls of your house. Most of the time the bug sticks to the zapper. When this happens just open a door and tap the zapper gently and the bug falls off (dead). When you swat the zapper at a fly there is a loud zap. So you no you got "˜em.
