Instructions need improvement

I almost returned this product because I had continual static noises, even though I bought another optical audio cable. Some of the former reviewers complained that the cable included in the kit was poor quality. I have a new Samsung TV that requires an optical cable for audio out. I wanted to use a headset for the TV, hence the purchase of this DAC. I completed the Amazon return form, but then decided to Google for solutions. After viewing a whole bunch of Youtube videos, I finally found that for Samsung, I had to click on "Expert Settings" in Sound, and change from Dolby Digital to PCM. No idea what happened, but now everything works. Wasted a ton of time!
Please add to instructions that one must go to the TV settings, change audio out settings, and find something equivalent to Expert Settings.

I'm using this converter to connect the optical output from my Samsung television to a standalone audio system, and the audio quality is excellent. However, when I first connected the converter I wasn't getting any sound output. I finally realized that the optical connector on the converter had a moderate amount of play, and if I wiggled the cable near the converter's optical connector, the sound would work. I don't have prior experience with optical connections, so I don't know if it's typical for that play to exist, or, whether it's the converter's connector, or the supplied cable that's at fault. Either way, it's working fine after I held the cable in a position where the audio was working well, and used some hot-melt glue to keep it in that position.
