Works really well at sealing end grain. However, it changes the color of wood, staining maple bowl blanks a yellow color. There must be some unwanted chemical reaction that seeps into the wood. Very good product, but beware color stains.

I've been using this product for the last decade and have again purchased a gallon. Currently it's been put on the ends of 10 oak logs and some large oak circles. no checking as yet. Takes a couple of days to complete drying clear, then I put on one more coat. enjoy

Easy to apply; did 100 ends of 2" slabs and barely used any product so far. Just get a harbor freight disposable brush to apply. Seems to have reduced this violent checking I was getting.

I was skeptical at first given the price but the reviews were consistent that this would greatly reduce, if not prevent, checking. I put this on about 40 logs and so far, no checking. Summer will be the real test. Actually worth the price. The pictures are from just after application and after drying for a week.

When you're harvesting green wood, making sure it doesn't dry out too fast is important. Although this does not prevent all checking, it will definitely reduce the amount of waste from making either bowl blanks or lumber. Applies easily with a paintbrush or roller, turns into a waxy semi-transparent coating as it "dries".
