Does the job at half the price

This is a simple roof rack design that is very similar to others which cost $100 and up. The J brackets are easy to assemble and attach to the vehicle with ease. The straps that come with the kit look pretty cheesy and I don't trust them. I use my own higher quality tie downs instead. This is a minor pick however, since I bought the package for the racks not the straps. Bottomline, I liked the first rack for kayak number one, so it was a "no-brainer" to buy another one to rack up my second kayak.
NEED LONGER BOLTS

Bolts to hold it to the roof rack need to be just a little bit longer for my Nissan frontier.
He really had cinched the straps pretty tight,

Husband is very capable of putting everything and anything together and this was a little bit of a challenge but he did it. Just wondered what folks do to keep it from slipping as it did after only traveling 8 miles at 70 mph. He really had cinched the straps pretty tight,
It is sturdy and the kayak didn't budge on a long trip

Our roof racks are a bit deeper than others so this provided more flexibility and fit well. It is sturdy and the kayak didn't budge on a long trip. There are very few words on the instructions, so putting it together was a bit like puzzle. I suggest taking some time before use to put it together. Other than that, it does the job and I would buy another one from them.
Sturdy and does the job.

Both one for my 10'6" kayak. I use this rack on my 2004 Expedition. Some stated that the bolts were too long. I haven't had an issue with the roof touching the bolts. My roof also has small indents the length of it for what seems to be rain channels. I positioned the rack over these for added room when securing to the cross bars. I use the stock cross bars and they help up while towing a camper and to the shore and back (round trip 300 miles). I also used the supplied tie down straps. They seem very strong to me. My OEM cross bars have a small hole at either side for what looks to be matched strap hooks. If you position the straps correctly, I can tie the excess strap in these holes for added security. No issues with them coming loose either. Just make sure the square head seats all the way down. If not I could see this coming loose after some driving. I bought the last set so I purchased another from eBay and it's identical to this one. Instructions are a little lacking but one can easily figure this out.
