Terrific mill
Sherry•October 13, 2017
I love this mill. I set it a little finer than the breadtopia video suggests, just a little, and it helps to freeze the wheat first. I soak the ground wheat in all the recipes water for an hour, then add additional white flour, starter and salt. Using 1/3 whole wheat, my bread rises as well as 100 white. Pretty amazing

It took me a few loaves to get this all correct. Worth the effort!
Sorry for those with high hopes for this mill, but it's a dud. Great marketing, poor delivery, poor performance. Yep, a dud.
B. Ogatiy•October 11, 2017
This mill is a dud. Arrived with the 1. flour chute broken, 2. one of the main housing tabs holding the top in place broken, 3. missing feet on the bottom, 4. the bottom housing detached with large parts floating around the main housing (two large white cylinders with wiring attached) and it has rotating machinery inside, so if I hadn't caught this and tried to turn it on, there would have been a small disaster of some sort as the wires got caught in the fan blade.

I did get the mockmill put all together in order to mill some flour to see the result, prior to sending this back. So I removed the shipping tabs as per instructions and milled a total of 3 cups of hard white spring wheat that was triple cleaned. I adjusted the setting to minimum grind setting, again as per instructions and shown in breadtopia video, and commenced.

The flour came out gritty and no better than a vitamix will millt. Measured the temp of the flour with a laser instant read thermometer, and by the grinding of the 3rd cup (not all done continuously, but a cup at a time with about 3-5 minutes between cups using room temperature) the temp was already reading from 135 to 140 degrees of the flour coming out of the mill. This is hotter than the flour from my vitamix when I fill the dry container half full of grains (which results in a full container of flour and strains the engine a bit) and haven't stored the grains in the freezer before grinding which usually ends up around 125 degrees.

I again verified the grinding setting and adjusted further, until there was a clear sound of the stones grinding against each other. Here I got a bit finer grind that a vitamix will do, but the flour was hot and I suspect some issue as the stones perhaps were to tight against each other.

Anyway, won't be buying another of these dud mills. Might check out the komo, but likely will stick with the reliable and consistent vitamix and freeze the grains before grinding. Also I note when I pack the vitamix dry container half full, it does heat of the flour (so freezing helps a lot) and produces a finer grind that when it's only a quarter full and the flour is more free to move around the container.
Best mill hands-down at this price and even better than models far more costly.

This mill is far superior to anything else in the price range. I previously used my Vitamix dry container and a Nutrimill Classic. The flour from this is significantly finer than the Vitamix or Nutrimill Classic. Mill time is not as fast as the Nutrimill Classic, but is still fast enough for the home cook. The temperature of the flour comes out good and not overly hot. You can adjust the grind from coarse to super fine and almost powdery. I noticed an improvement in my baking immediately. Milling grains more coarsely is great to make your own hot cereal blends (mill coarse, 3 minutes high pressure in the Instant Pot, 1 part cereal to 4 parts water plus a little fat of choice like butter). I have recently switched over to buying organic products and the cost of organic flour in the grocery store is very high. If you look around you can get organic wheat berries in bulk and mill your own- saves you some money. Savings aside, baking bread with freshly milled flour is spectacular and you will never go back to the chemical-laden options normally purchased at the grocer. There is also a significant nutritional benefit to milling as the bran and other nutritious parts remain in the flour, so healthier! This performs great and you will get a better quality grind than models that are several hundred dollars more expensive. You will be glad you bought it!
Love it.

I bought this at the discounted pre-production price three months ago and received it this week. It's a delight. I love it. I milled kamut and barley for pizza dough and it was perfect. Turn it on before you fill the hopper. (OK. I'm a newcomer to milling flour....)
Easy Fresh and Flavorful Flour.

The Mockmill 100 is a solid well made mill and it performed flawlessly! Within hours of receiving it I milled some wheat berries and made the best tasting loaf of Whole Wheat bread since I started baking. The mill is simple to use and quickly grinds wheat berries into a beautiful fine, fresh flour. I had read that nothing compares to the flavor and nutrition of freshly milled flour, now I am convinced of that. I also milled Rye berries, I was able to mill coarse Rye meal and fine Rye flour. The loaf in the photo has a combination of fresh milled whole wheat flour and rye flour. The Mockmill 100 is also priced well below other mills that I had considered, so that is a bonus!
