Replacement pump for Whisker City Small Pet Fountain ii

My husband ordered this pump hoping it would work in Whisker City Small Pet Fountain ii and it does. Only the grommet on the wire is different and he was able to take the one off the old failed pump by slitting it at top of the radius. This is actually the same part number as the failed pump so should last us about 3 years based on the previous Whisker City Small Pet Fountain ii we've had pumps fail in. Replacing just this pump is cheaper than replacing the fountain, and also appears this fountain is no longer available so I'll be getting some more of these to have on hand to keep the fountains we have going.
Why say it works with original fountain when it doesn't??

What is pictured does not work with my Petsafe Original Drinkwell Fountain, even though it says it does in the description. Think its really sneaky to discontinue the pump I need, I guess to force me to buy the new version. This whole thing was a Bait-and-Switch. The only reason I gave it one star is I do love my Petsafe Original Fountain, too bad its makers didn't appreciate it enough to continue selling replacement pumps for it.

My original PetSafe pump lasted a good 2 1/2 years before succumbing to gunk/hair/food buildup. I first replaced it with a cheaper (louder) knockoff brand, but that never worked as well and just stopped working 6 months later. This one is great...strong flow, quiet, and the cats love it. Spend a few more bucks and go with the real deal.

This works great as long as you properly clean it, the first time I used it and it was time for cleaning I didn't clean it correctly and I thought I had damaged it beyond repair so I ordered another one, then come to find out it was just that I didn't clean it correctly, once I did it was working fine, but I do have a back up in the even I do need to replace it.

Great pump but be aware that you have to keep the control flow stick as this one is shorter and doesn't go under the barrier or gate.
