This walker is the best thing I've ever done to get back my life! I have a condition that I have been dealing with for years that makes walking extremely painful. I've managed to (almost) graduate from a wheelchair to a walker, but using the walker was limited because I had no upper body support and eventually I would give in and lean over to rest my arm on the handle bars to help support the weight on the legs. I was starting to be naturally be bent over and by the time I got the UPWalker in early May of this year, often I found that I could not straighten up completely. It's taken me a while to get used to the turning radius of the UPWalker and even now I occasionally nick a baseboard. The key is to use the "stand up" grip to give the walker a better angle in a close turn. The walker itself is actually almost 2" less wide than my standard walker, but it's also about 2" longer than the standard (deluxe) walker. I've more than doubled my daily movement with this new walker and even went to an outside mall and did more walking than I've done in 10 years. I'm hooked and I can now stand up straight. When I was explaining to my doctors and other mobility specialists what I wanted to get to replace my old walker, they all looked at me like I was crazy. Once the medical community sees this walker and what it has done for me and its potential for other patients, I'm sure this style walker will become the standard of the future. UPDATE: I just told one of my doctors about the improvement in my mobility since I got the UPWalker and she looked it up to get the information to pass on to other patients.

I bought this for my parents to share. I didn't tell them about it because I knew they wouldn't want me spending $500. When it arrived, I received a call from them. I needed to return this as it was too heavy for my dad to lift. I told them that I wanted them to wait for my arrival (I was coming to FL from NJ in a week. I was shocked that it was made of heavier material than your tradionall walker. People who use walker are not very strong anymore. This appeared to be made out of the same material used to make a bike, and it weighed about the same as a bike. It was truly TOO HEAVY!!!

I am writing in response to a question from "The Sharp Shopper": "Does this walker have a seat? If so, how high is it? I need a high seat due to back & leg problems."

The seat is 20 1/4 inches from the floor. The height of the seat is not adjustable. I also need a high seat because of leg problems, and this height works very well for me (I'm 5 foot 6 inches). The Sit to Stand bars really help getting up from sitting in the walker and also helps getting up from other chairs. I have had three different walkers and this is the best! I can now do my own shopping with-out help, talk my dog for a walk, and work around the house standing completely upright. The UPWalker gives me FREEDOM!The UPWalker Walking Aid/Upright Walker

Good concept. I found it very maneuverable. I especially liked the large wheels. The seat is not at all comfortable and the arm rests, when set at normal working height, get in the way of one's shoulders. If it's used primarily for walking and not sitting, it's pretty good. All that said, I got it for my wife and she hated it, so I had to return it. Return was handled without a hitch. Be sure to save all packing materials until you're absolutely sure you're going to keep it.
UPDATE April 6 18. I thought it was pricey at $495, but at the current price of $595, I would not consider it.
