Was using a cheaper "china" clone of this the last few years but It wasn't long enough for my 55" Samsung and the color from the LED's were all not accurate so I actually had different "hues" of blue and cyan and even purple due to the poor quality control of the LED's being used and the white was beyond horrid. The remote was all pretty crappy and had poor range, so I was looking forsomething better that didn't cost an insane amount
After finding a code discount from Kinja Deals for this, and seeing all the high quality reviews on it, I jumped on it and got the extra long set as I plan on upgrading my TV to a 60 inch or larger eventually and I didnt' wanna have to rebuy this
Setup was pretty straightforward, especially using my TV's 5v USB port. I didn't want to use the sticky 3M on the LED's, as I wanted it easier to remove when I upgrade my TV, so I used electrical tape to secure it to the back of the TV instead and though it looks tacky, no one is gonna see or notice it besides me and my cat lol. Because this strip is so long, I had extra left over but I didn't want to cut it because I want the extra length for my new TV, so I just laid it across the middle in the back of the TV for extra back lighting
I was utterly amazed at the quality difference in the LED"s vs the cheap China one I had. The blue/cyan LED's are all perfectly accurate and match all around the TV, I was so pleased that I now was getting true blue, cyan, red and purple colors and the white...wow, true true white really really makes my TV and anime shows pop! I can't believe the difference it makes during my PS4 Pro gaming sessions and Blu Ray movies really look awesome now with that 6500k rated white in the back vs the horrid combo white from the cheap RGB China LED strip I had before!
The remote also works much better and is very responsive, even behind the TV

Very nice set of bias lighting for your tv. I figured out early on that our Sony tv cycles power to the USB port even when the tv is off, so I needed a set of lighting with it's own on/off switch. I tested out the look with a luminoodle camping light set, so I stuck with the same company and am very happy. The light strip set packaging was VERY compact and efficient. The light strip seems very well made and great quality. I ordered the X-Large kit for a 55" Sony tv. The back of my TV isn't the best for routing the lights, but it worked out. I saw various reviews talking about the lights being much brighter than expected, I believe for the non professional kit, but my wife and I think they look great. Our tv is on a floor stand inside a nook that is only about 6 inches from the ground. I got the floor stand to try to hold the tv up a bit to fill the space. There is ample space surrounding the tv on all sides, and the lights are the perfect brightness in my opinion. The color options, brightness levels and effects are all great, but so far we have really only used the bright white setting. My only complaint, and this is likely also do to me not having the time to take my time, was installation. The lights come wrapped around a spool and do not lay out very flat for the initial test fit. I basically only test fit the start through the first 90 degree turn, and after that I was winging it. I wasn't able to get my corners as flat as I would have liked so it's a good thing it is on the back. I had to pull it up and re-route a few times as I went across the bottom. Most flat panel tvs these days have a vent on the bottom, so the landscape is a little different from the nice smooth edges on the other three sides. But in the end I made it work and we really like the look.
It's decent for the price, but very bright and you can find better for the same price.

Cheap and effective. I have an NZXT Hue+ for my pc, desk, and monitor, but I wanted simple white lighting for my living room TV. This is pretty bright, and I wish there was a dimming switch, but it gets the job done. Much easier to watch the TV now without fighting the glare of other lights, windows, and helps with the contrast on the TV as well. I would give it 5 stars, but I feel the brightness is not what everyone is looking for. I will deal with it because I bought it on an impulse and it's cheap, but I recommend looking for something dimmable, and maybe even that allows for more colors. The white is very bright, and a little yellow would not hurt. I also bought a manual switch to turn it on and off with, which is another thing I feel it should come with. As for the LED strip itself, it is not coated in anything and the 3m is not the strongest. It can be bent 90 degrees but it's still a bit awkward. Overall, it is okay. I would recommend looking eslewhere.
Great product though cooler color than I wanted - but there's a fix!

This provides great soft light around the perimeter of my Sony XBR55X930D 55" (diagonal) TV.
I purchased the 118" length and it fit around the perimeter of the screen about 3" in from the edge, starting and ending around the base and leaving about a 12" gap where the base is, which was perfect.
The adhesive backing on the strip of lights seems pretty robust, so much so that if you misplace it you will have a very difficult time peeling off and repositioning it.
To make SURE that I had it positioned correctly, I modified my installation from that described in the instructions: instead of starting at one end of the strip, I opened up the adhesive backing in the exact MIDDLE of the strip and positioned this at the very CENTER of the top of TV - by working my way first clockwise and then clockwise around the TV perimeter from the center I ensured that the lighting was positioned symmetrically around the edge of the TV.
The LED's stated color temperature of 6500K may be technically correct with regard to optimum TV viewing in a darkened room, but I found the cool color a jarring contrast to the other warm LEDs and incandescent lights we have in the living room. To correct this, I purchased a small bottle of acrylic art paint at the hardware store and, using my finger, put a dot of the transparent yellow paint over every other LED chip in the strip. This created a good balance of LEDs emitting a yellowish light with the original LEDs and their bluish light.
Note that this Sony TV applies power to its USB outputs even when it's "turned off", so it was not practical to power the strip from the TV's USB outputs or it would be lit up all the time. Instead, I powered the strip from a USB power supply that is plugged into a switched outlet on the back of one of my A/V system components, so when I turn on the entire system with the remote control it lights up.

A blockbuster look with the quality to become a classic

As much as I love how it turned out, I really want to deduct stars for the fact that I now have to improve (i.e. actually do) cable management. While the how-to video shows installation by wrapping around the edge, I think a line across the middle is the look most will want for a TV on a stand. Check out my photos for how such an installation looks on a 55" TV.
As for quality, I love that it uses actual 3M branded tape on the back. I placed and removed the strip several times and went from 18 LEDs down to just 14 with all facing direct to the wall. So you can compare to your setup, my TV sits about 7 inches off the wall. Depending on how you lay out the strip, you may run into an issue where the cord with the USB plug casts a shadow as it partially obstructs an LED. As you see, I solved this by ensuring the full length of the cord is stretched out and tucked under the end of another cable.
