Great product

I really need EW (Extra Wide) for my Duck Feet but their sizing allowed me to guesstimate a size to fit Thermal socks. I already own a shorter version of a different size for Summer. I am impressed with both sets. They remind me of the my MASON SHOES that I loved. Wasn't sure I would like the 16 inchers but beside providing more warmth, I was impressed with the adjustments that allowed the "pre-shaped" calf area to tighten up at the top. I have big (muscle) calves and with the ZIPPER VERSION, I could tighten the top for a really good fit & shape but not have to try to push my foot through the restriction! In fact, This was my first "zipper" and I will probably look for zipper styles from now on!!!

I want and need support and protection over the calf of my legs. There are few non-custom boots that fill that need and these RideTecs are superior. That badly damaged foot requires a side zipper and extra size for me because the lack of range of motion and permanent swelling demand it.
Sneakers, low boots, even 11" high boots if you can find them don't cut it.

I unpacked these and slipped them on.
I wore them the whole first day in comfort. No stiffness. The same the next day, and the next.
The cushion in the boot is amazing in how it molds to the foot and makes you feel like you're walking on air.
These are biker/engineer boots and have all of the reinforcement and adjustment of the historic boot. The instep strap has a bit of extra length to add a bit of balance to the buckle. The bottom of the boot has just a bit of extra border (?) that makes the boot more stable, ready to get down to business.

One drawback was in the shipping. A 16" boot needs an internal support that comes up the full 16". Mine had an 8" support floating about in the bottom which meant the shafts are creased flat. As I cuff my boots, this creates a rather noticeable folded edge in the front and back. They are unsightly bloused.
I hope I can work that out.

Update SEP 2020: Still in good shape. Definitely worth the money.

Update AUG 1, 2019: After having these almost 8 months, I am still very happy with them. I would buy them again. I was wearing them most days except when sneakers or steel toes were needed, until the weather got above 95 degrees. I have appreciated the light weight, and the comfort has remained great so far. No trouble with the zippers or other parts so far. Because the leather is light weight and they are tall, they tend to sag when just standing on the shelf not being worn. I stuff an old T-shirt inside to help them keep their shape. After getting them dirty and wet a few times, I can suggest using a good quality cleaner/protectant on them, same as used on the $600 Wescos I own. I use "Leather Only" brand of product. First clean and dry them, then use the product to maintain the leather in good condition.

The correct way to measure a boot height for fitting is from the footbed to the top of the boot. The shaft height. The 16" claimed is from the floor to the top, so includes the sole and the heel thickness.

That said, I also got a size larger than usual and use thick socks and these are as comfortable as sneakers. Light weight and cool, maybe 5 oz. leather. Much cooler in summer than the heavy duty and expensive Wesco boots worn in the winter. I'm always bashing into things 12-15" above the floor, so they are doing the job they were bought for and this is where a typical shortie 10" work boot is not worth pouring water out of.

The skinny or slim crowd should try the Adtech brand, similar to these but much slimmer. A Chippewa boot may also be better there. The thing to do assuming you can get ahold of anyone on the phone is to ask.

These are a great value for the money. I'd buy again.

Full real leather. Not some cheap knockoff. Good, thick soles that will take a beating. Tight fit first time in. I'll wear a thinner pair of socks for first break-in and work up to a warmer pair. I ordered a 13M and I know the leather will definitely stretch out some.
