Built Extremely Well

I've been so excited to receive this scooter when cleared to start gradually putting weight on my ankle/leg after 7 weeks in a wheelchair. I was hoping that the scooter would be easier to navigate around the house. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case for me. The scooter is very hard to turn and takes much wider space to make a corner than the wheelchair. It tips pretty easily so you can't force it to go the direction you need. I find I have to stand on one foot supporting myself on the wall to pick up the scooter and move it to go where I want. However, as the headline says, this scooter is built remarkably well. No doubt it would work fantastically outside.

I am scheduled for foot surgery in a month. My doc suggested a knee scooter. After a lot of internet searching I decided on this brand and model. First of all I am not mechanically inclined at all. So there were many confusing moments. The scooter comes in a large box with the seat attached to the body UPSIDE DOWN. Probably to save space in the box but nowhere was this mentioned that you had to unclasp the pin and remove it. Not easy to remove. I was so afraid I was going to break something. Also I knew I had bought a three wheeled scooter and inclosed were four wheels. What the ....? The included instructions were poor. I finally called the number in the instruction book and a lady answered the phone with only a "hello" So I thought I misdialed. When I asked is this the number for KneeRover she said yes. I explained that I was having a dilly of a time to putting this beast together she took my info and a man called me back fairly quickly. I was told that fourth tire was an optional sort of a "training wheel" OKAYYYY. I then found out that in order to fill the tires with air you need a compressed air setup. Silly me. I bought a bicycle pump that he said would be very difficult to use. Who knew? I love the color and hopefully I can get air in the tires soon to try this baby out before the big day.
Great Knee Scooter...

This has been a life saver. I am a busy mom of 5 kiddos that are constantly on the go. I injured my ankle and was unable to walk on it for several weeks. We were able to still do our big camping trip thanks to this knee scooter. I was able to easily get around camp, go on easy hikes, and even run around beaches with my kiddos. It is definitely not easy to get through soft dry sand, but once you get to the wet, compacted sand you can go. I was able to keep up with my kids even as they ran around. If you don't have the greatest balance I would recommend using the extra wheel you can attach the the back single wheel. Where I didn't use it, there were times when I went to fast and almost tipped myself over. I also used it to get out to our large garden and our goats and chickens. If you are an active, outdoors person I would highly recommend this. I still use this on our family walks, and I am still healing from my injury, and don't walk as fast as my kids at the moment.

The only downside to a bigger knee scooter is its turning radius is wide. If you are in a tight spot you would either have to rock back and forth, or you can pick up the front and push the bench part with your knee to move it how you need. How you move it in tight spots would be dependent on how well you can balance.

The picture is of me on the beach with my kiddos and mom. Where it isn't a full picture of the knee scooter, it shows it out on the beach.
Freedom!

Moving to this KneeRover from Crutches is Freedom! I'm loving it's ability to let me move over greater distances even within the house. Sometimes I even just go for a "walk" for no reason.

Pros: The larger wheels really handle the door edges and general roughness of life around us. I've even gone down single step transitions into our garage. The overall build quality seem to be solid. During assembly, I found that the brake tension and brake lever position were already well placed and the tie rods already adjusted to keep the wheels parallel. It went together readily. Everyone at work was excited to see it and wanting to give it a try.

Cons: Very little to say but a few minor comments. It doesn't fold down very much and the front width can catch you by surprise in a car. The knee cushion is a lacking and my boney knee pushes it down quickly, you may need to add extra padding. 3 wheel vs 4 wheel - it has an extra stability wheel for those wary of the 3 but I opted to stay 3 wheel. I have a life experience of skiing, windsurfing, etc. so the balance during turning has not been a problem for me but if you have balance issues, start with the add-on wheel (included).

Some people had commented on the turning radius. In my office this is rarely an issue. In my home, I whiz around in the open areas and occasionally just pop the front up and over as needed for a tighter area. So easy and fun if you're agile beyond the reason for the rover.

The last mile delivery (US Postal Service) totally failed and presented mis-information about their attempts to deliver. Amazon went above and beyond and immediately sent a 2nd unit which I received one day after and then arranged pickup of the original once USPS finally delivered it 2 days late. Disappointing to not get it on the original date but Amazon resolved it nicely.

I'm 5'11" 185lbs male with a reconstructed ankle. Scooter holds me up great. If your mechanically inclined not hard to assemble. Hand grips feel great. Scooter. does not feel tipsy at all to me. Love that my pushing foot is not hitting a wheel when moving. Crutches are a joke compared to this. Made it around shopping where I couldn't before. Seat is nice though I would like it to accommodate my knee a little more. This knowing I didn't get a memory foam style so not a major complaint. Break works pretty well but a little cheap overall. Basket is nice and stays in place. Glad I have one to put things in. Trying to carry even a tv remote isn't to bright if your really injured. Wheels are decent and seem to stay strong in turns. Tires feel like they could have a little more sway strength. If your maxing out the weight limit you may consider an upgrade here or not sure what the pro version has. Tires will mark walls and floors. When I try to fold the steering column down, the button you need to push in is hard for me. It's solid but could use a friendlier mechanism. Overall I am happy with my purchase and may just throw some upgrades at it depending how long I'm on it. So far I've added a drink holder. Four star could be 4.5 if they let me. 5 star if your looking at price compared to what your getting.
