Great product, but read/watch the instructions

These ear pads are just as comfortable and sound just as good as the originals, now that I got them installed properly.

At first, I thought these ear pads did something to the frequency response of the headphones. It seemed like high frequencies were dampened or the bass was overloaded, or something like that. In any case, the issue went away once I took the pads off and reinstalled them following the video instructions.

The 9-minute installation video (link/QR code provided with the instructions) is excellent. However, being a typical engineer, my initial instinct was not to spend the time to watch the video -- how hard can it be to put on a couple of ear pads?

The answer is actually "not too hard", but there are a few key details that you'll probably miss by skipping the video as I did. For those of you who are as impatient as I am and do skip the video, here are the key points:

1) Remove the plastic frame inside each ear pad. As the video notes, you won't find these in the original ear pads and they are not needed. I suspect they are there to protect the pads during shipment and/or to preserve the shape until you install them. I'm guessing that leaving these in led to the poor sound quality I observed at first.

2) When fitting the sleeve into the slot in the earphones, try to grab the leather mostly, rather than the skirt. This wasn't actually a problem for me, but since my originals failed because of the skirt separating from the leather, I'd say it's a good idea not to put too much stress on the skirt, pulling it away from the leather.

3) When the skirt is in the groove all the way around, check that the pad is aligned properly. It's likely the "L" or "R" will be slightly askew, but it's easy to rotate the pad slightly in place (i.e. without dislodging the skirt at all) to get it aligned properly.
Respectable replacements for QC35

After two years, my Bose Q35 suffered it's first major case of wear-and-tear, with the left ear cushion spontaneously rupturing and allowing the memory foam to burst out the cushion. To order new cushions from Bose, cost $35. So a $15 price difference isn't exponential, but these cushions from Accessory House had Prime shipping, so I was sold.

For the record, these are 'not' OEM parts from Bose. They are very close to the original ear cushions, but there are some differences.

Installation of the new cushions can be a bit confusing, as it foam ring that holds onto the clips can sometimes be finicky and they end up popping out of the clips when trying to fit them in. A little trial and error is all it takes.

In the images below, the Accessory House is on the left, and the original is on the right. The right-ear original cushion was still intact for comparison. Right away, I can see the originals are much more fuller and fatter. They are softer while the new ones are stiffer, however, it is only very minuscule. I myself was questioning as to how stiff they were, but this could be because of the new ones being thinner, therefore, the memory foam is more tightly packed compared to the originals. It is an extremely subtle difference, but they are not 'tough' as some described them as.

These headphones still feel very comfortable, and the seal for noise cancelling is effective for adequate isolation. Because they're thinner, your ears are closer to the sound drivers. Whether or not that impacts listening is entirely up to your own experience, as they can be interpreted differently. But these feel excellent, and the leather feels just as good as the ones that originally came with the QC35's.

The package also comes with a plastic opening tool and replacement scrims. I didn't use the scrims since the originals didn't need replacing. I also would advise against using the opening tool, as you can damage the plastic clips that hold the cushions in place.

In the long term, we'll see how these hold up, and will update my review accordingly.
This is the perfect and easy renovation for my Bose QC2 over the ear headphones

My 10 year old QC2 headphones ear pads and headband cushion started disintegrating and leaving a sticky black paint-like residue on my ears. I was going to retire them. But I went on Amazon and found these replacement pads. WOW! Great quality and fit. When they arrived I went on YouTube to watch instructional video and within ten minutes my QC2's were like brand new again. Get these replacements and you will be VERY pleased with the quality and ease of installation.
A Very Effective Replacement for Disintegrating Head Phone Pads!
Mark Brickman✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 3, 2017
I bought this replacement set after noticing my Bose Quiet Comfort 15 (QC15) head and ear pads were disintegrating and dropping little black foam pieces on me. I researched the issue and found that others had reported the same problem. Not wanting to have to buy new noise cancelling head phones I looked for a lower cost solution. I ordered the Accessory House replacement ear cushions and head pad. The pads arrived on time and included the tools needed to refit my Bose QC15 head phones. Accessory House has videos on youtube with instructions on how to make the pad changes. I installed the ear pads first as instructed in the first video and then did the head pad after watching a second video with instructions on that operation. So far I'm completely satisfied with the result.

I recommend this product my only caveats are:
1. Tools included are not the same as in the videos but do the job.
2. Watch the appropriate video before you start any replacements. One video is for ear pad replacement the other for replacing the head pad.
3. Follow all the instructions in the videos especially when replacing the head pad.
Great replacement Headband!
Steve Romero✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 7, 2017
I have purchased three pairs of Bose Noise Canceling headphones over the years. I now own QC35s, so my son now has my older QC15s, and he passed my original QC2s down to my daughter. As I did when I gave him the QC2s, I replaced the worn earpads. When I did, I again noticed how worn the headband was, but it is not removable. Then I noted a number of companies now make replacement headbands - most of which simply fit clumsily over the original headband - attached with a bulky zipper or velcro flap. Then I found this headband pad. It is GREAT! Don't pay attention to the 'DIY' cautions. If you know how to use a screwdriver and you are handy in the slightest, you should have no trouble. I didn't even bother to read the instructions or look at the instructional video. Just make sure you use a exacto knife to carefully cut one of the SIDES of the original headband - so you don't accidentally cut the wire running down the center. And take care to ensure the replacement pad is centered on the metal headband when you mount it. Squeeze the plastic mounting clips firmly when you are placing the screws. And don't tighten the first mounting clip all the way until you mount and fasten the second clip - to give yourself a chance to adjust the pad to make sure it is properly centered before you tighten the screws all the way. And use the screwdriver they provide. I have lots of tools so I initially used one of the mini screwdriver sets I owned and I found none of my tools fit as well as the one that comes with the pad - which was very surprising because 'included tools' usually suck. The headband looks great again and the over-sized clips make it easier to adjust the headphone headband size when you expand and then store them. I challenge you to find a better option for replacing a worn headband on your Bose noise cancelling headphones. My old QC2s look like new. Awesome.
