Great Fit + Easy Installation

This cover was easy to install and fit perfect. There was a slight misinterpretation of the instructions, such as having a second person to putt the tracks up to level while installing the clamps. There customer service rep was spot on in getting that aligned, all in all, it was done in 45 minutes. Looks and works great!

This is interesting. Once on, it actually looks good and there is definitely a quality element in the overall product. It does NOT look cheap the top is of a pretty standard quality across all tonneau's. My last one on my 2015 was still on it and if you used the conditioner looked almost as good as new. Same "type" of material...and for the core of the engineering and execution are good. The instructions are not much help as they are designed apparently for multiple bed types and to be honest particularly with a Ram Box it seems like it was an afterthought to put it on there however, the way it goes on is surprisingly robust and well thought out. Water tightness. Good luck with that... But I can see the intrinsic challenge for a manufacturer. fortunately, I personally don't want it sop and wet after a rainstorm and don't mind some seepage due to speed. I never put anything in my box that HAS TO BE DRY. And I used the black boxes with yellow tops a lot... But if you want one that is watertight, as noted... Good Luck. It nor would my last one stop a determined thief or even one with a box cutter....

So, once you understand how its made and how it goes on, the whole process of getting it on takes about 10 minutes. You will need a second pair of hands for about a minute when you slide it on. It has an aluminum structured T style structure that fits exactly into an aluminum slot on the RamBox Bed management system at the end. You have to pull off plastic caps that are part of the OEM system. They are not essential and disposable actually. Then once you put the three parts together (the two side pieces and the end with the actual cover on it, it is ready to go. This is where you need the second set of hands. It is just barely together until it slides on and then the whole piece slid into the Rambox grooves provides all the structure only when it is all slid into the box. It is big so you need two people to do that initial slide on. Once on, you basically are done. There are a couple of pieces of the foam weatherproofing pieces that need to go on before sliding it on, and you can slide it off and on easily so the rest of the weather proofing can be done AFTER you slide the unit onto the rambox tracks. They do put a piece of weather stripping (1/4 inch thick) under the front lip by the cab. It isnt' enough and you will have another good half inch of weather stripping to seal that front. What they put on the box is NOT thick enough. I ended up getting more weather stripping at Ace Hardware. They do sell an expensive version that starts out 1/4 of inch thick but expands after you install it and pull the tape backing off. Work fast thought it starts to expand immediately. I simply taped it over the quarter inch strip installed by Truxedo at the factory and It expanded and was perfect. Now the shortness everyone complains about. You WILL have to carefully get that right in terms of how it is on. Here is where the Rambox install comes in handy. DO THIS before you install all the tape you are going to need to fill the holes and keep the water out. There is like an 1/8th inch of tolerance you have for the perfect fit. Forget about the plastic pieces that are designed to fit in slots in the Rambox system. If you do that I promise it will not fit over the top of the bed correctly and you will be frustrated. Don't worry about it as your final pieces lock it in place not the little plastic clips. Adjust it for as close to watertight fit as you can. I can also promise that some of the perimeter rubber water tight areas will not appear to be on everyone's unit. but if you look closely the rubber is up against the box on top and front. We will see how well it keeps water out. Now, shut the unit and look inside. You will see the holes where you need water proofing. Look carefully and cut as needed and sort of stuff it in. If you do it right it will be sort of a long term solution. Tape will tape to other pieces of tape. There are two thick pieces that are designed for the back corners ON THE TRUCK that fit well, lip on the top. At first you are going to look at them like what the heck is this for. It will become apparent once the top is on and you inspect for water entry points. If looks are your only consideration, to be honest you don't need the waterproofing except in a few places. The final piece that locks it all into place are the black plates and aluminum square piece. One bolt fits in the track so the head holds it in. On bolt screws into the hole in the aluminum block that is in the track of the Rambox. To be honest, ON THE RAMBOX installation most of how it is held on is by the tracks themselves slid into the track on the ram box. You have over five feet of tracks in tracks and it isn't going anywhere like flying off the back. The blocks and screws simply lock all that in place. Pretty decent engineering solution for the Rambox specifically install. For my purposes and for the price this will work fine. for perfectionists? I'd look elsewhere and have someone else do it. You want a practical, not too worried about water solution at a very decent price. This is what you want. You want perfect looks and perfect water tightness (good luck with that) then spend about double what this costs at least. That is what it comes down to.
Better than expected for the money

I had been shopping around for a while. I put this through the test for sure, Snow, freezing temps, rain, hail and some heavy rainstorms. To my surprise still going strong, no leaks and working as intended. Happily surprise by how water tight this is will very little effort to secure the Velcro's sides.
