Ordered the Larger Size for my 13 pound Cat
Mary Jane✓ Verified Purchase•May 4, 2018
Compared to the one provided by the veterinarian, this collar was more comfortable for him to eat and sleep in. Just to let people know, I chose the larger option, not the small one that is automatically chosen. My cat is only 13 pounds with a very small neck and the cone fit him perfectly, so i have a hard time believing this is going to work for large dogs or even some cats.
Helped protect my kitty's eye health, and my wallet!!

My kitty (3 year old) kept scratching himself raw and bleeding, near his eye, no less. I first put this cone on him, and he lost all his will to live, for approximately 3 hours. After that , he started navigating his way around the house, learning to see with that cone on. He started to heal very quickly with the antibiotic ointment he was on for the wound , and so I removed the cone too soon. I was fooled, and he was back at it, scratching and bleeding again. So I left it on for 1 week , removing it 3 times a day for meals and hugs, and also to reposition the collar and dry off the wet, water/food soaked areas. The plastic was easy to clean. After the week, he was nearly completely healed, and after a quick bath, which he desperately needed after that ordeal (got a little smelly there), he was back to his free-running, loving and playful self. PS, this is also great when clipping nails. They cannot bite or scratch as much in such a submissive situation.😎ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

My cat, Leo, is a little over 8 pounds and has about a 7 1/2" neck. The small size fit him well as the size chart predicted. The collar was very easy and fast to secure with the velcro closure - important when you have a squirming patient. The black banding offered some cushion (not a lot) from the plastic material at his neck. I would say the product works well and seems sturdy. I did not appreciate that the manufacturer left a very large sticky tag on the plastic that was very hard to remove without scratching up the surface and I considered deducting a star (I"m talking to you, manufacturing people).
Leo hated the collar and we only left it on one night to try to keep him from ripping off a bandaid that we used to seal a wound on his ear so I can't comment on the longevity of this product. (I feel any collar of this type would have produced the same reaction.) When he finally had surgery, we chanced that he would leave his stitches alone enough to let them heal as we felt wearing the collar would be too upsetting for him on top of the surgery. Luckily he didn't need the collar.
If you need a collar like this, I think that this is a good product. My vet saw it as well and had nothing bad to say about it.

Overall a great cone. This was the cheapest option I found and it was a great quality. My only issue was that it was a bit smaller than i anticipated. My cat is a tad smaller than average, just at 9 lbs. This cone only fit him by the last 1/3rd of the vecro. I had anticipated it would be a little bigger as it advertised for cats and mine is not big. However the size of the cone was stated so I did not change my review based on that as I did not measure my cat I admit. After about 3 days my cat was able to pull off most of the black trim which made it fall on his ears which agitated him very much and had to be cut off in the end. However overall, the velcro was strong enough to hold up the entire month my cat needed the cone and once we cut the trim it worked perfectly.
This hurt my cat more than it helped him.

I bought this after my cat got neutered, and the post-op instructions from the hospital said his recovery time would take at least 14 days. I figured it should be enough to leave this on my cat for a week. While it did stop him from licking his wound, it also made him scratch his neck a lot. He scratched his neck so often while he was wearing this that he tore his fur out in one spot and even bled. I immediately had to take this off of him so that his neck wound would heal. I'm guessing this happened because this is e-collar is like a hard, inflexible plastic on both ends. I'm guessing that if it were a softer and more bendable material on the ends then it wouldn't have irritated my cat's neck as much it did.
