Good sturdy lock, had an issue with the bolt not being the one I needed for my type of steel door. Gabriel was very helpful and sent me the part need to get it installed.

Installed the lock yesterday. When you open the heavy box you realize how substantial the lock set is. In addition to the heavy duty hardware there's a security ring that extends inside the door. The installation instructions are incomplete, but easy to resolve. First you need to install the lock pin set into the body of the lock - just undo 2 screws, insert and tighten the screws. Second you may need to adjust the latch bolt to match the set back of the hole in your door. This is a little more difficult to do. You have to pinch and raise the side levers while extending the shaft of the door latch. After a few tries you can find success.

Works well. Smooth. Locks. Key works.

This lock is excellent. I love it. I just wish the additional keys that I needed were cheaper

I don't mean for my headline to sound too hyperbolic but it's pretty close to true in the United States. The standard 5 or 6 pin deadbolt you see in most American homes offers very little protection. Why? Well, the problem is that the pins in a standard deadbolt are extremely susceptible to what is called a "bump key". This is a very easily made key (you can also buy them right here on Amazon) and a person with almost no skill can use that type of key to open most standard deadbolt locks.

Just go to youtube and search on "bump key". Seriously, stop what you're doing and go look that up...you'll be amazed. The worst thing about it is that with such a key an intruder can enter without making very much noise and without any skill and without leaving a mark on the door. It's frankly pretty scary that even quality locks can be very easily opened in seconds by a person with no skill.

The mul-t-lock interactive+ is different. Because it has both inner and outer pins it is much less susceptible to a bump key attack. In fact, in the US it's very unlikely you'd come across the criminal that even has a bump key for this kind of lock and even if they do there are 3 different types of keys and even if they have the right bump key it's very challenging to hit the lock just right to set all the pins when there are two different shear lines (some say it is impossible, I'm not so sure). In any case, it's much much harder than a standard 5 or 6 pin deadbolt with just one shear line.

Sure, it's more expensive but it's mostly a one-time expense and that one-time expense provides ongoing peace of mind that if a criminal is going to come in they're pretty much going to have to break the door down or pry it open (not a great scenario but at least you know they're coming). Note, if you want to kick it up to the next level of security check out the Hercular. When paired with a metal door and frame the Hercular presents a really high degree of break in protection, they'd have to rip the frame off the wall in addition to the door. The Hercular was actually TOO much protection for me, but your needs may vary, it's only about $20 more than the Interactive+

Note, ANY lock can be picked by a highly skilled locksmith, including this lock. Don't be scared off by that. What you really want is bump key protection and this lock offers that.
