Looks than I expected

So, after reading many reviews, I have to admit the only one I truly acted upon was from the postal carrier. I too have a job where I am on my feet a lot, with miles of walking, but walking over much more difficult terrain than he, I'm certain (pest control). Upon opening the box, I was pleased to discover these are very rugged and heavy duty hiking shoes, very well made, something that just should not get torn up easily. My last pair, of a different brand (and more money), lasted me a year and a half of walking over very rough terrain, for several miles each day, 5 days a week, and I suspect these will do at least that good. I happen to have flat feet, a bone spur on top of my foot/big toe area, and pronated ankles. There was not near enough support for my condition, so inserts and arch supports were necessary, but that is just me. Also, there was plenty of room to accommodate the thicker inserts with my condition. I also have a little bit wider feet than average, and the fit is still great. I would normally expect all new shoes to hurt the feet in some way on the first day of wearing, especially for 9 hours, but any pain from these shoes was next to nothing, very minimal. Flexibility is reasonable, considering they are new, and I suspect they will loosen in flexibility pretty well as I break them in. They are very good looking shoes, and I am actually considering a second pair, just for non-work use only. The pricing is very reasonable for this quality of shoe. This is my first pair of Camel Crown, and I am already a big fan. If I happen to actually wear these out, I feel I would certainly buy another pair! And no, they didn't compensate me for my glorious review. Truly happy, as shoes for my messed up feet/ankles are pretty hard to come by.

I was unfamiliar with this shoe. I ordered the size I usually wear. They fit beautifully. This is a substantial shoe that can do double duty as work shoe. I am on my feet for long periods of time, and this shoe helps me keep comfortable while doing it. I will be ordering a different color on my next purchase just to have an additional shoe. Trust me, this is a nice shoe. You won't be disappointed.

10 1/2 tend to have a toe area that isn't wide enough, but 11 can mean the heal slips a bit even when fully laced. I went with size 11 with these and the fitment is better than most shoes I try on in store. Not sure if they make for the best walking shoes because the base feels very solid, with little flex, but as a daily "rugged" indoor/outdoor shoe, they seem just fine. Also, I broke them in with 3 days of rainy weather and cleaning downed branches from the yard, and my socks barely got wet.

One issue is the soft rubber already has some fade, and the front section is thinner than the rest (from the actual base of the shoe). Not sure if it will crack/separate in a few months, so I'm taking off a star for that.
