Well built and does its job well

I have another pair of padded shorts and the padding has gaps in certain areas. Oddly enough, when I fell in them, I would end up landing in the gaps and get big nasty bruises, as if I didn't have any protection at all. This product is very different. There are no gaps in the pads and I've fallen twice very hard and it really protected my butt as advertised. Plus the quality of the build and the material is top notch. The only con I have is that the shorts are hot, even on a cool day. It seems the material doesn't breath very well. But I'm afraid that if they change out the material to be breathable, it would be more expensive and maybe not be as durable as it is now. Oh, and there are lots of velcro and zippers all around to adjust the size to fit you snuggly. This product is definitely a keeper.
Amazing (do we need the belt?)

The media could not be loaded. The product is very well made, and the area of "‹"‹protection on the butt is wonderful. I wish it had a little more in the hip area. Also, maybe I'll have to buy new snowboard pants... but if I lose about 6 lb, it'll be perfect!😉 It has a "belt" that could be removed. I'm going to cut this belt so my pants won't be so tight. I recommend it anyway! I'm tall, 5.9 and I weigh 180lb. My shorts are XL.
On the small side

Listen to their size recommendations. I've never worn anything above a medium except hoodies so I thought buying an xl was crazy! Well it fits nice and I love them but thighs are still a bit snug, not tight, and the waist is as well. Although, if they weren't snug they wouldn't stay where they are made to protect. I'd buy again for sure and maybe try a xxl and just tighten the Velcro
Not sure

I'm 5'4/5'5 and around 96 lbs... the small fits well over my jeans. It's maybe a bit loose if I wear them as shorts, because the butt seam is a couple inches too long for a skinny person like me. If benken made an xs I would order that, but over jeans it's perfect. It doesn't get in the way of my skating.
The material appears to be high quality, and I've skated in them 5 times so far. No rips or snags. The material is like thick spandex.
Padding: I am a complete beginner. The first time I fell while skating slowly over asphalt with protruding cracks, I didn't feel anything. However in my 4th session skating, I fell 3 times within an hour on asphalt and cement (while going fast and not knowing how to stop) and I felt the pain and impact. I was able to get up and continue, but up to 1-2 days after, when I sat down on the hard floor in my room on my tailbone and rocked a backward, I felt that my tailbone area had a little pain, enough to bother me. I felt fine sitting on other surfaces like chairs, etc.
People are telling me that this is normal, and that a butt protective pad can't protect you 100%, it just cushions you... so I don't know how this compares to other pads. Three days later now my tailbone is fine, but I'm afraid of falling again.
I will update my review when I have done more sessions.

Learning to snowboard - Saved my tail! :)
SLW✓ Verified Purchase•August 17, 2023
I'm just learning how to snowboard and it literally saved my tail as I crashed over and over again. I'm a little sore this morning but nothing like I would have been had I not had these. But make sure you SIZE UP. I'm usually a medium but remember that these are going to be going over a base layer and possibly a mid layer and you don't want to be stuffed into them and lose your mobility. The front has a zipper plus a hook-and-loop flap, and it also has two hook-and-loop tabs on the side so you can adjust how tight they are based on what you're wearing underneath. Yes, these are twice as much as the other popular items listed here, but they are worth it!
