An excellent addition to my home entertainment setup
This is not a ginger ale!✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 5, 2023
The avedio links 4K@60Hz HDMI Audio Extractor has proven to be an excellent addition to my home entertainment setup. This device has provided me with a seamless solution for extracting audio from my HDMI sources and sending it to multiple audio output options.

First and foremost, the capability of this audio extractor to support 4K resolution at 60Hz is impressive. I have tested it with various 4K content, and the video quality remains crystal clear without any noticeable degradation or lag. The ability to maintain such high-resolution visuals while extracting the audio is a testament to the device's performance.

The audio extraction options available on this device are what sets it apart from other HDMI audio extractors. It provides three different audio output options: HDMI, optical Toslink SPDIF, and 3.5mm AUX stereo audio. This versatility allows me to connect it to different audio systems depending on my needs. Whether I want to connect it to my TV's built-in speakers, a soundbar, or a surround sound system, the avedio links audio extractor has the necessary output options.

The setup process for this device is straightforward and hassle-free. It is a plug-and-play solution that requires no additional drivers or software installations. Simply connect your HDMI source to the input port and your desired audio output devices to the corresponding output ports, and you're good to go. The included user manual provides clear instructions to guide you through the process if needed.

Another notable feature of this audio extractor is its support for HDCP 1.4, which ensures compatibility with a wide range of HDMI devices and content. I have used it with various media players, game consoles, and streaming devices, and it has worked flawlessly every time. The support for full HD 1080p and 3D content further enhances its compatibility and flexibility.

In terms of build quality, the avedio links audio extractor feels solid and well-made. The device is compact and lightweight, making it easy to place it near your HDMI source without adding clutter to your setup. The ports are sturdy and provide a secure connection, ensuring that there is no loss of signal during use.

One minor drawback worth mentioning is that the included power adapter may not be compatible with all regions. However, the device can also be powered through a USB port, which offers flexibility in case the power adapter is not suitable for your region.

In conclusion, the avedio links 4K@60Hz HDMI Audio Extractor offers a reliable and versatile solution for extracting audio from HDMI sources. Its support for 4K resolution, multiple audio output options, easy setup, and compatibility with HDCP 1.4 make it a standout choice for users looking to enhance their audio experience. Despite a minor limitation with the power adapter, this audio extractor provides excellent value for its price.
Good for some but not for me.

UN55NU6950 2016 Samsung smart tv only has the HDMI ARC port for external sound leaving me to locate devices like this to connect my Bose system. Avedio does not work with the model TV I have. Avedio was a easy connection once connected the ARC switch turned on I was able to see the external device show up in the sound settings and it worked just fine ðŸ'‚ but after turning off the TV for bed then back on after work the ARC function stopped working. I checked the sound settings on the TV and I know longer saw the external device to choose from so I was able to troubleshoot and got the device working but again it went down so I requested a replacement 😀 but also the replacement did the same thing so a refund was requested for me. 2 stars issued since this a good idea and this my work great for others. July 2nd I have been in on going contact with customer service and they do have a upgrade version of the product, I have not tested it personally but just there customer service made me add TWO stars to this review fantastic customer service 😀
Works with a 720p projector with one important caveat

I bought this device to put between my HDMI source and an older Panasonic 720p Home Theater projector. My intention was to use a Google Chromecast as the audio/video source.

When I connect the Chromecast directly to the projector, it works fine.
When I connect the Chromecast through this HDMI Audio extractor, I get no picture from the projector.
I tried every combination of powering the devices on, connecting them in different orders, connecting the Chromecast to the projector first and then the extrator, &etc. Always the same results.

I connected the HDMI output of a Samsung laptop to the projector: It detected the projector and output 720p
I connected the Samsung laptop through the HDMI extractor: It listed the device as the Panasonic projector *BUT TRIED TO DRIVE IT AT 1080p* - resulting in no picture. I set the output resolution to 720p manually and it worked fine with the extrator.

So here's the important caveat: To use this device with an older 720p-only display, your input device MUST BE MANUALLY CONFIGURABLE TO OUTPUT 720p. In this config - the "Auto" resolution detection will fail through the HDMI extractor. Unfortunately, the Google Chromecast is *not* manually configurable. My PS3 is, as is my Samsung Laptop and an Amazon FireTV stick. So I have options, just not the Chromecast.

Just a heads-up for anyone else considering a similar setup. If your display device supports 1080p (or above) then it probably won't be an issue.
Great product with great customer service!

I purchased this so that I could play my classic-edition consoles (NES, SNES, Genesis, and PS1 classic/mini) on my computer monitor (that has no audio-out). It was easy to set up, but at first the audio didn't work with my monitor (video was fine).

When I emailed their customer service, they were very fast to reply and had helpful suggestions to offer. After some troubleshooting between various monitors and televisions, we were able to determine the cause of the issue (the HP 2311x monitor sends a signal to the device telling it that there is no audio output and causes it to stop sending an audio signal). You can test this on your device by connecting the game console to the splitter and attaching your headphones and turning the game on BEFORE you try connecting the HDMI cable to your video monitor. If the audio works at first, then stops when you connect the monitor, your video device is telling the audio to stop playing.

Although I haven't yet figured out the settings/workaround for this particular HP 2311x monitor, it works just fine on a Dell monitor with HDMI input, as well as a Vizio television. The product itself is very high quality, comes with all the necessary cables (including a short HDMI cable and a stereo mini jack-to-red/white adapter cable), and works perfectly with all but one of the devices I tested it on.

I was also concerned that the audio volume would not be loud enough (since there is no volume control on the splitter device, on my analog headphones, or on the game console itself), but the volume came through clearly and wasn't too soft or too loud. This would not be a problem if you are attaching a speaker or headset with built-in volume control.

I highly recommend this item!
Works as expected

I was a little nervous about getting this due to some bad reviews. However, even though there was a lack of detailed instructions and a little background in technology it was a cinch to set up. Worth the $!. Enjoy!
