My wife has early onset Alzheimers disease and has started to get contractions. Her hospice nurse told me she should have something for her hands. I thought they were going to supply it, but they didn't, so I was left to shop for something. I tried the Buck catalogue. They had nothing for this purpose. Amazon to the rescue. I order this and the black thing with the smiley ball. This contraption is better. It was too late for her left hand, which was already so bent at the wrist that this could not be put on. We used the black one for her left hand, although now her arm is locked across her body and we can't put anything on her left hand. I this contraption on her right hand every time I visit, and I think it says on until they put her to sleep, but staff at her facility does not put it on, perhaps because its use is not in the medical orders. Or perhaps the strapping is too complicated for them (hard to figure out at first, but easy once one gets the hang of it). If you are dealing with a stroke victim or someone with severe Alzheimer's, try to get them physical therapy at least a couple of times a week.
Curling stroke hand?
Amazon Customer✓ Verified Purchase•August 31, 2023
I have had four strokes paralyzed, left side hand/fingers curling into a fist. I've also used the hard hand paddle more like a ping pong paddle and it's no where near the product this one is. This one is so comfortable once on I don't notice it which makes sleeping easier as well as wearing for longer periods of time my fingers are straighter and more relaxed when I take the splint off. The only negative,I took cover off to throw in laundry and the zipper is a tad fragile so there's a small hole otherwise I would have said five plus stars.suchgreat choice for curling fingers i I'll buy again if I for some reason need to replace thie first one.

Love it... not for fashion but comfortable and instructions included are very clear with pictures and text.
I find it best to wear with hand in large "C" shape and the wrist flexed a bit back or up. Was told not to drop the wrist for overnight but straight.
Keeps the fingers separated individually.
Stays put. My arm and hand don't slide around at all. Velcro is secure but not requiring super strength to reposition. It was a little difficult to apply myself but I did it and it only took a couple of minutes to get it right.
It is even dog proof... in that when I had it off, my dog stepped on it and it held the shape I positioned it in for easy reapply.
Another bonus is that you can position and change the position over and over again. I almost wish I had sprained my other hand so I'd have a reason to get the pair.
No rubbing or itchy spots overnight. It did get too tight and cut of circulation but that was my error and NOT due to manufacture issue. I simply loosened the straps a little. Very soft fabric and super easy to wash as the fabric has a zipper and is easy to take off... with help from a friend due to my injury. I would recommend hand washing and NO bleach.
Happy healing!!
