STINKY! (but cute)
Jilly Be✓ Verified Purchase•March 7, 2024
I had a chance to sit in this chair before buying, and I found it perfect for my needs. When it arrived and I unpacked it, the STINK (way too strong to just call it an odor) was SO overwhelming that it had to live outside for a week. I left it in the sun, the wind, and covered it with cedar chips and lavender, and sprayed it with odor eaters before I was willing to bring it in the house. The materials (adhesive? Fabric dye?) off-gassed so much that I would consider them toxic to anyone with lung problems or environmental sensitivities. If I had not sat in it, and known that the off-gassing would eventually wear off I would have returned it immediately.
The pros: It's a great sewing chair if you need to roll between task stations, it's super-cute, and the back rest fits me perfectly for lumbar support (YMMV). The cushion is well padded but firm, and you sit a bit far forward in the seat, which makes it perfect for sewing. It is not a lounging chair, it's a work chair!
I thought it was rather pricey, considering the toxicity of the materials and how much time it took for the off-gassing. Eventually I'll forget all of that and will hopefully just love the chair, because it does work perfectly in my space.
UPDATE: It's been 1-1/2 years since I bought this chair, and I'm updating my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars because of the comfort and practicality & ease of movement between machines. For sewing, all of that is perfect for me. It will never get 5 stars from me because of that assault on my nose for the first few months (it did take that long to completely dissipate!) I know several other people who bought this chair and had no smell when they opened the box; guess I just got 'lucky' :( I can honestly say I love it....now....

For the longest time, I held off buying this chair because of its price. I've purchased several chairs I've used for sewing over the years that are a lot cheaper. So much positive reviews have been written about this chair that I finally caved in and ordered it when my back started to hurt more regularly after being on one of my bargain chairs. Now I know why this chair is coveted by many crafters and sewists around the world! It's is so comfortable and I can sit on it while sewing, crocheting , scrapbooking and putting together Lego sets for many hours. It gives the optimum lumbar support and I can turn effortlessly between tables. If you are on the fence, go get it. It's totally worth it!
