Works like a charm, b7 a4 RNS-E navigation plus radio

I wired the 2 leads to connector D pin 13 for + and 12 for -. Plugs right in. I taped the Bluetooth bit to the wire harness so it wouldn't rattle. Additionally, metering the power draw on a power supply before install, it pulls roughly 10 milliamps while connected to my phone. So even if you had it wired 'on' 24/7, it wouldn't be too terrible of a draw.

Sound quality was equivalent to the aux cable I had wired in before.

Overall, I hooked it up and it just works. Good stuff.
It did not work

This was the perfect addition for my RSNe stereo, literally look minutes to install! It tucks away neatly behind the radio. I wish I would have done this a long time ago!
Good product

I installed this device in my 2012 A3 with an RNS-E Navigation infotainment system that included a factory Bluetooth telephone function, satellite radio, factory Bose upgrade and factory AUX jack function. The new device is working great and is a terrific, cost-effective upgrade to the factory system. Frankly, I wish I had done this upgrade a lot sooner!

Overall installation was straightforward if you have some basic mechanical and electrical knowledge. I would NOT say this is plug and play since you will need to connect two wires (switched 12 VDC and ground). The 32-pin connector provided with this device to connect to the back of the RNS-E head unit is identical to the factory connector Audi used to enable the AUX jack located underneath the arm rest between the front seats. Note that installing this device will physically disconnect the AUX jack rendering the jack inoperable. The device came with decent BT pairing instructions, and you should have no problems pairing with your phone--mine is an i-Phone Xr and paired right away. Sound quality is on par with most any other Bluetooth device...not as good as HD or satellite radio and equivalent to CD or SD card. This device has a different Bluetooth profile than the factory Bluetooth phone function. This is good in that both telephone and streaming functions are maintained as a result (i.e. your phone will pair with both this device and the existing car Bluetooth concurrently). When a call comes in while streaming, the streaming is paused once you accept the call. After the call, you will need enable the play function on your phone to un-pause the streaming function. With the exception of volume, all streaming functions are controlled via your phone, and there is NO display of ANY streaming information on the RNS-E display. Volume is controlled three ways: steering wheel control, head unit knob or phone volume buttons.

Here are a few installation tips that I think are important:
1. Use the Audi versions of the keys to remove the RNS-E head unit from the dash. I tried cheap knock-offs that did not engage with the head unit. The Audi version is sold as a kit of 4 keys and cost me $16 with tax from a local Audi dealer in Seattle...definitely worth the few extra dollars to save time and frustration.
2. Make sure you tap into the correct wires on power plug D for the switched power (pin D13) and ground (pin D12) and use decent wiretap connector hardware. The wire used for ground is thicker gauge then the wire used for the switched power, so have a variety of wiretap connector hardware available before you tackle the job.
3. There are one or two Youtube videos showing how similar devices can be connected...definitely worth watching just to get familiar with the job.
