Good budget trekking poles

These are a little tricky to align and assemble at first, but it gets easier after you've done it a few times. They are also very compact for collapsible trekking poles which is what I was looking for. I am not a hardcore hiker/climber and do not intend to put my full weight on them so I'm hoping these will last a while. This kit comes with a carrying/travel bag and some attachments for various types of hiking. The bag is great for storing the attachment especially when they get dirty. The rubber attachments have metal disks inside probably to keep the pole's spike from going all the way through. Be sure to check that those are in place before using those rubber pads. My biggest concern was the rubber pads falling off after a few uses, but that hasn't happened, yet. I will update my review if that happens; otherwise, I'm happy with them so far.
I read a review about problems with the straps on the handles - something about the wedge/insert coming out and causing the straps to come undone. I have not experienced that issue. The wedge/insert is physically attached to one end of the strap and it wraps around a metal dowel inside the handle. Pulling on the loop of the strap pulls that part into the handle making it secure. Pulling on the lose end (opposite end) of the strap pulls that wedge out, but it stays attached to the strap overall. Maybe there was a design issue and this is the fix? All I can say is the straps stays in place as long as my hands are inside the loop of the strap.

Before leaving for a hiking trip I purchased these at the last minute and so grateful I did. They are solid and sturdy, as good as expensive name brand poles I've used in the past. 12 miles into our hike I tore my meniscus and could not put any weight on that leg for the first couple of days. With the help of way too much ibuprofen and these trekking poles, I was able to walk out of the backcountry. Navigating a very rocky technical uphill trail, I put all on my weight on these poles as if they were crutches (135lbs + 30ish lb backpack). Locks never failed, cork grips were comfortable - no blisters even after a long death grip on them. They were the best thing I brought with me on this hike (besides my husband) I will continue using them once my knee is healed. Thank you for making an affordable product that is great quality and totally dependable. Thank you for saving me from an expensive backcountry rescue.

I know a lot of people buy these for hiking, but I bought these for my husband who had surgery and was walking in a boot. He was unsteady while walking outside and these provided the stability and support he needed. When he eventually transitions into a shoe, they will be even more assistance as he begins to rehab from surgery.
