It takes some setup with putting the sock on the holder, but when done properly, it works great. Put the sock over to top so it wound slip out.

I did not find the directions particularly helpful. Each person is different. An accident left me unable to use my legs or feet. For me the most helpful thing was the right kind of socks. I use a wide mouth sock which I can get on Amazon. I also had to experiment to know when to turn the sock aid away from the heel of my foot.
