I ordered these trekking poles so I could have the option to keep poles in my pack unless needed. I had originally given this product a negative review because I thought there was no way to tighten the cable holding the poles together. However, on my 3rd use of the poles, (I had been using gaffer's tape to hold them together) I discovered that you just need to pull down on the pole and a little pin snaps out that holds them together. I felt like an idiot for not realizing this 6 months ago when I bought them, but in my defense this was not included in the instructions. However, I am now greatly pleased with these poles. They're not as sturdy as the semi-collapsible poles, but I'm willing to sacrifice some sturdiness for portability.
No printed directions about assembling trecking sticks.
