Key features

  • This is a DIY product that provides perfect vector network measurement capabilities, tiny and handheld, stand-alone with 2.8-inch LCD display, portable with battery powered or USB powered
  • The improved frequency algorithm can use the odd harmonic extension of si5351 to support the measurement frequency up to 1.5GHz. The 50KHz-300MHz frequency range of the si5351 direct output provides better than 70dB dynamic, The extended 300M-900MHz band provides better than 60dB of dynamics, and the 900M-1.5GHz band is better than 40dB of dynamics
  • The metal shield is designed to reduce the external interference and improve the measurement accuracy
  • The default firmware main function is used for antenna performance measurement. The TX/RX method can measure the complete S11 and S21 parameters. If you need to obtain S12 and S22, you need to manually replace the transceiver port wiring
  • Package include NanoVNA host (with battery) x1, USB Type-C data cable x1, 30mm SMA male to male RG174 RF cable x2, SMA simple calibration kit x1, SMA female to female connector x1

Very useful for determination of antenna resonance (SWR).

I ran a controlled test of three NanoVNA-H instruments compared to a $600 RigExpert AA-600. Precision

Good accurate VNA, but gets hot, and has very slow setup/cal storage software

First, the Libre NA is accurate, so it is a good value for the price. However, it gets hot during use - a simple top-of-unit heatsink would have helped. Also, the software routines for storing calibration data and setup data sometimes take minutes to take effect (i.e. for the cal or setup files to actually be stored on the host). That is my reason for giving the "Ease to use" two stars. Finally, better RF connectors could have been used in the unit. Overall, however, the unit is well worth the price, but is unnecessarily rough around the edges.
Good Build of the nanoVna

There are hundreds of versions of this out there, this one is a good build and accurate if calibrated correctly. I use this mainly to check the swr on my antennas. I have also used it to trace the length of coax to a fault. It excelled at both of these functions. I use this all the time in my Ham shack when building new antennas. You must calibrate it when changing the stimulus settings. Also, it only keeps 100 calibration points so calibrate it only to the range you need for the best accuracy and always save to bank 0 as this is the bank it recalls when it is started up.

The build on it is sturdy enough for bench use although I would not throw it in my field bag without keeping it in its plastic case. The case on this is open on the sides so using it in rain is a no go. The touch screen is good but better if you are using a stylus. For the price it's the best antenna analyzer I have ever used. There is a bit of a learning curve with setting it up if you are used to a regular ham antenna analyzer but nothing that five minutes on YouTube won't cure.

A full 2-port vector network analyzer with frequency range up to 6 GHz is amazing for the price. Unit arrived nicely packaged with everything needed to get started. Video referenced in Amazon listing is a great quick start guide. Ready to take measurements within 30 minutes of opening the box, and I was taking my time. The Windows GUI software is open source and runs directly, requiring no installation. The software prompted to update the VNA firmware upon startup. The firmware update is readily available online and once downloaded, was able to select the update file from within the GUI software and it installed itself quickly. To put things into perspective, a (new at the time) unit I used about 30 years ago having roughly the same capability was about 4 cubic feet in size, weighed about 100 pounds, and cost about as much as a moderately sized house! Looking forward to using this unit for my projects and hobbies.
No enclosed case on this one.

I should have paid attention to the photos but they hid it well that this model is not in an enclosure. It works but I have no way to measure the accuracy. It is close to the same SWR as my radios meter. Be aware though that this model is not fully enclosed so I'll only use it in the shack and not outside.
