Key features

  • The SAA-2N/NanoVNA_V2.2 uses a similar user interface to the NanoVNA, but with a different technical architecture, the SAA-2N/NanoVNA_V2.2 does not load the initial calibration data at startup, and does not automatically interpolate the calibration data after the user changes the frequency, and must recalibrate or call back the calibration data after each startup and frequency change. Please read the user manual carefully before use to avoid damaging the device.
  • Transmission Mearsure S21: 70dB(50KHz-1.5GHz), 60dB(1.5GHz-3GHz). Reflection Measure S11: -50dB(50KHz-1.5GHz), -40dB(1.5GHz-3GHz); Antenna Analyzer: 1.005(50KHz - 1.5GHz), 1.02(1.5GHz-3GHz)
  • PC Connection: the device can be controlled by PC via VNA-QT software, supported for Linux, Windows (7+), Mac OS planned. It also support Nanovna-Saver for extracting the data for display on a computer, and for saving to Touchstore files.

super useful to a ham. (smelly case)

I wanted and appreciated the N connectors. Everything worked as advertised. The quality of the cables, and connectors are all top notch. Nicer cables then anything I own, and the thing is built like a brick. Battery life is fine.

That case though. It's really nice, but smelled so bad, that had to put it on the back porch. And there it lay for a month, baking in the sun, and snow, and rain, and OMG it still smells so bad. Like horrible toxic mess. So that kinda sucks because it would have been nice to have a case to keep it in. But I'm not kidding. It went right onto the porch. Toxic and gross. I'm not even kidding. That said, everything else was fine, and I paid waaaaaay to much money on amazon for this thing. The amazon tax is real.

Amazing little VNA for the money
Kerry✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 19, 2023
This is an amazing VNA for the money. The user interface is easy-to-use. Calibration was easy. You will be measuring S11 and S21 quickly after you power it up. I have not had a chance yet to compare measurements to my $70k VNA at work, but a measurement taken on a coaxial cable was within my expectations.

The real power of this little wonder comes when you control it by your PC. Using the software, you can measure S11 and S21 and save to a touchstone file. Reverse the cable and remeasure to find S22 (=S11 reversed) and S12 (=S21 reversed). The software won't combine them into a complete s4p file, but it is not difficult using Matlab, Python, Perl, etc.

I will also add that the seller noticed that I had not ordered the additional calibration set that came free with the VNA (I noticed the free addition after I placed the order). They notified me and then sent the calibration set free of charge. That is awesome customer service!
Unbelievable 3GHz VNA with 4" Screen and CAL Hardware
John M✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 11, 2023
Just arrived today and I am totally blown away by this little compact 3GHz capable VNA for $130 bucks. I am nearly giddy with amazement, because not only is the construction of the product (full metal case) solid built, but hardware is really quite capable. As anyone who has previously purchased the NanoVNA series knows, its very functional for hobby and minor field work. This unit, the SAA-2N V2.2 is the latest in the NanoVNA series which now includes 'N' type RF connections instead of SMA. Most engineers and HAM enthusiasts will appreciate that when you need to connect to antennas outside, or test receiver LNA's and downstream equipment, you likely need to use N-type connections. Noting that it is totally possible to use N-to-SMA adapters for the earlier models, the problem lies in the fact that when you attach a heavy N-type cable to a same fragile SMA adapter, you run the risk of snapping it in two, but not so with this unit. The SAA-2N V2.2 has the same good RF performance for S-parameter measurements as previous models, so I won't cover that in this review. Having the screen now at a pleasant 4 inches is very helpful compared to the earlier 2.7", and 3.2" versions. The specs have conflict when it comes to battery capacity, in the graphic images is a comparison that says it has 3000mA/Hr but down in the text area of the spec it states 1950mA. I will have to report back to really see which is correct. I own a very nice HP8753C vector network analyzer along with several calibration kits. I ran some tests using the HP85032B cal kit on my VNA and then testing each of the three hardware cal adapters that came with the SAA-2N V2.2 . The Short and Open have virtually no difference and the RF 50ohm Load held better than -30dB return loss at 3GHz, which is really not bad. That is a VSWR: of 1.065. Using a 10dB attenuator on S11 port, yielded a near perfect -19.96dB return loss. The two N-Type to N-Type 20.5" long cables are pretty good, and able to maintain a -23dB return loss out to 3GHz, which is better than Port 2 can perform at (-13dB RL).
I really am impressed at what it can do and all that is included for the price. I now can have a portable VNA virtually anywhere I go. And if you need a hardcopy of your measurements, you can download the free PC software from GITHUB which will allow the VNA to output data via the USB port to the computer and then you can save it in S2P or CSV for later. (You have to make the measurement while using the software, and you can't save it on the instrument and then later print it via the PC.)
Fantastic piece of gear for the money!
Works well, low cost.

For the price, this is a fantastic bargain. The manuals for how to use this device are online, because this is an open source item. This particular manufacturer has a heavy metal box to hold everything in, and larger connections with which to attach coax cables.

I bought a kit of connectors for this that connect to the pl259 plug for my antennas. It is so easy to tune up the antennas now with this. I have already used this a lot with the number of antennas.

PROS: low cost, easy to use, Easy to calibrate and set up.

CONS: the first unit came with the wrong calibration items. But the manufacturer and Amazon resolve the issue immediately. Second, you have to get the operation manuals from the internet at the open-source group. However, at this cost, the pros overcome the cons.
